Here's the problem with a Thread Hall of Fame. Many of the greatest threads are only best appreciated within a larger context, and I think some mega-threads should be eligible.

For example, Sean keeps bringing up the Master of Literature thread, but that thread was only part of a much bigger imbroglio that started in the thread where Rhys challenged Scotty to a writing contest, and sprawled across several other threads, including one that Scott started with a poll to ask whether Debbie or myself was the board's biggest troll.

I made mention earlier the possibility of setting up an Oldtimers Committee, sort of how the Baseball. Hall of Fame has the Veterans Committee, to pick people who are before the memories of a critical mass of the current members. I figured we would let things play out for a few weeks, then talk about whether or not that is a worthwhile idea.

Noooooooooooo.

No one gives a shit about an Oldtimers Committee. And, honestly, as much fun as it it might be to spend a day or two dipping into nostalgia, I don't think anyone cares about a Hall of Fame, either. New members won't care. Oldish member will resent that there are people who have been here longer. And the Founding Fathers like me would much rather talk about what's happening today. War stories are boring.

As I posted previously, somewhere, I was looking to make this Hall of fame thing something that would spur conversations, maybe stir up a little controversy and, primarily, just be fun. I knew that some people would blow it off, while others would take it too seriously. But most people have taken it as intended, and I'm happy about that.

I've gushed about Phelia before, and I will wholeheartedly nominate her for a future thread, but in this round, my vote goes to Peregrinator. The man is hot as fuck, both in body and brains. He posts in spurts because he's out living a larger life than most, keen on finding adventure and fulfilling his dreams. Why that makes him Hall of Fame worthy is that he then comes back and shares with us, with sincerity, enthusiasm, and humility for all that he's seen and done. Plus I bet he smells great, all clean soap, musk, and tanned leather.

You are all delicious, but I'm not Hall-worthy. Nominees should contribute substantively, or uniquely, to the Lit experience. The archetypes, if you will. When I introduced lavender to the site, she enthusiastically blasted past me to become the passionate law student who would discuss politics and the law with breathtaking enthusiasm. So I don't have that angle going for me. I've posted a couple of bit pics, but again, there are far better examples around here, both in quality of images and subject matter. Garnate has the enviable rack, backed with verve and hilarious videos and Q&As (her videos alone should qualify her for the next round of nominees); y = mx + b posts the most erotic self portraits, bar none. Phelia is a far more creative writer; she writes her posts from the back of a unipegasus flying amid the rainbows. Problem Child could write at length, and compel people to hang on his every word, even when he was directly insulting them. InternationalFunBoy is our Willy Wonka, charging in with his first post with a double-flip and fireworks, and making all the girls swoon. Dr Oliver Klozoff was our resident unflappable doctor-in-training. Lancecastor didn't get my vote this round, as I only had one to cast, but I wholly adore his position as the board contrarian. Highly intelligent, he pulls masterfully at strings. Seriously, this is fun! There have been scads of fab people around here.

While I appreciate your modesty, I think it may very well be one of the reasons why you need to be in ze Hall.

I had one. Grey tabby tom who drooled when he was happy.
Didn't know him to be much interested in video games. He probably would have kicked lance ass at that red light on the wall game, though.

Actually my first cat had paws like this. She had an extra toe on her front ones and looked like she was giving you the thumbs up. She was lovely. Had her from 4 to 19, my best friend when I was little. Aww.
