Or, perhaps you could STFU and mind your own business...

Thanks anyhow.

And this is why you're looked upon as the astringent lemon-puckering bitch pill in this process. If you don't want any, then don't pretend you wanna join.

You're welcome.

It's ironically fitting that the person who posted the first GB thread only posted once, never to be seen or heard from again. :D

Laurel wasn't even that mean to them! But it would have been sweeter still if they had been looking for a story or chat.

(Oh and if one of you wild and crazy guys decides to get this started, I'm nominating this one for the Thread Hall of Fame

Actually, YOU could've STFU instead of goin' all "hall monitor" and "Rulez! Rulez! Rulez!"

As usual, you do your level best to suck the fun out of this place.

Methinks someone typed this with one hand.
Please. I've mastered kegels enough that I can get off hands-free.

I want to nominate Mischka, because she's smart and delicious...
She's still here, and as wonderful as ever.

(Hint to slack ass nominators)
I nominate both Debbie(XXX) and Mishka!

That better?
Your check is on the way. I'm not sure about the musk, but my feet tend to smell like leather because my favorite shoes are moccasins, and the rest of me smells like soap for at least part of every day. Back atcha, btw, hawtness. You deserve this far more than I do.
You are all delicious, but I'm not Hall-worthy. Nominees should contribute substantively, or uniquely, to the Lit experience. The archetypes, if you will. When I introduced lavender to the site, she enthusiastically blasted past me to become the passionate law student who would discuss politics and the law with breathtaking enthusiasm. So I don't have that angle going for me. I've posted a couple of bit pics, but again, there are far better examples around here, both in quality of images and subject matter. Garnate has the enviable rack, backed with verve and hilarious videos and Q&As (her videos alone should qualify her for the next round of nominees); y = mx + b posts the most erotic self portraits, bar none. Phelia is a far more creative writer; she writes her posts from the back of a unipegasus flying amid the rainbows. Problem Child could write at length, and compel people to hang on his every word, even when he was directly insulting them. InternationalFunBoy is our Willy Wonka, charging in with his first post with a double-flip and fireworks, and making all the girls swoon. Dr Oliver Klozoff was our resident unflappable doctor-in-training. Lancecastor didn't get my vote this round, as I only had one to cast, but I wholly adore his position as the board contrarian. Highly intelligent, he pulls masterfully at strings. Seriously, this is fun! There have been scads of fab people around here.

Cymbidia is an excellent nominee, because she was the bridge for many into the world of BDSM. She patiently answered questions on the subject, demystifying the world of consensual pain and bondage for many of us. Remember the Vanilla War? Remember her pictorial of piercing play? Holy hell. She gently guided many to question their assumptions and see others in a new, less judgmental light.

Oh, that's just awesome.

Can someone please please get a Thread Hall of Fame going?

I mean someone who's not me. Someone motivated and stuff.

I would, but nominating the monkey story thread would be gauche.

I mean no offense but I can't say I agree with you. Plenty of people joined years later after the board got started that are important and influential.

That isn't what I said. I said people from the beginning who were important and influential won't ever get into the poll because they aren't remembered by people who joined a couple of years later. I didn't say anything about important and influential people in later years.

Now I'm going to go laugh about the words important and influential.

DCL and to some degree Laurel will make the decisions (of course) about who is truly important here.

(and don't your forget it!)

But in my pre-Lance days, I enjoyed reading Uncle Denny's posts.

Well, it's the GB Hall of Fame, not the Lit Hall of Fame, so it wouldn't make sense to list people who don't post on the GB.

I endorse a Playground Hall of Fame. The first five members will be #1, #3, #5, #7, and #9.

This was my original Forum handle -- DCL. My name was always "Dixon Carter Lee", and I joined Lit before the Forum Boards were created, sometime around April or May in 1999. When the Forum Board was created in August '99 I took a little time to register, because I was already communicating with everyone via email. Eventually I decided to switch over to the Board and just used the abbreviation "DCL". So this is my original Log In. A couple of months later I abandoned it and reregistered with my actual handle "Dixon Carter Lee".

So, really, my "join" date is probably May 1999. That's when I submitted my first story and started communicating with the other writers and readers, before the Forum Board, when Bread cost a nickel and girls were all named Marge or Betty Lou.

------------------------

The odd thing about making a "Hall of Fame" is that, except for Laurel and I, I don't see anyone who actually made the site from back in the day, people like Endlessly, Fake Name (the first troll), Deborah, etc. They're not going to be nominated because no one remembers them. And certainly very few remember Patryn (Raven), if we're nominating the infamous. All these people defined the Board for years, but they're not going to make it into any of the polls because no one remembers them.

Which is cool. I don't have to look back, and don't really enjoy it all that much. I'd rather think about today. But if we're going to play around with the idea of a Hall of Fame and go on and on about who should be on it, just know that it won't really be a comprehensive listing of important, influential or infamous Board members.

And not once do you mention Deep Sea Fishing Rights!

I made mention earlier the possibility of setting up an Oldtimers Committee, sort of how the Baseball. Hall of Fame has the Veterans Committee, to pick people who are before the memories of a critical mass of the current members. I figured we would let things play out for a few weeks, then talk about whether or not that is a worthwhile idea.

I mean no offense but I can't say I agree with you. Plenty of people joined years later after the board got started that are important and influential.

And it's too bad we're only allowed to list people from the GB because the How To and BDSM boards both have really amazing folks in it too!

At this moment, there are 135 people on the GB, 25 on How To and 10 on BDSM. Posters from those areas would have no chance against GB regulars in a vote that included all boards.

Maybe y'all should start a Committee and develop a written framework for a more defined Qualification, Nomination and Award Process, with Sub Committees for the location and design and fundraising for the Virtual Hall.

Then get back to us in a year or two with your Preliminary Findings for Discussion.

I figured we could just bulldoze where Chat used to be and build the Hall there.

When I introduced lavender to the site, she enthusiastically blasted past me to become the passionate law student who would discuss politics and the law with breathtaking enthusiasm. So I don't have that angle going for me.

You have the advantage of her, however, in that you are not a frog.

There you go.

Kinda neat how suddenly you and I are masterminds of a great and evil conspiracy.

Kind of a shame that said conspiracy's only goal seems to be to hurt Lance's feelings.

Were I to actually get off my lazy ass and conspire with you, we'd have grander goals. Like world domination, or cats with opposable thumbs.

Here's the problem with a Thread Hall of Fame. Many of the greatest threads are only best appreciated within a larger context, and I think some mega-threads should be eligible.

For example, Sean keeps bringing up the Master of Literature thread, but that thread was only part of a much bigger imbroglio that started in the thread where Rhys challenged Scotty to a writing contest, and sprawled across several other threads, including one that Scott started with a poll to ask whether Debbie or myself was the board's biggest troll.

Pfft. Debbie. get real.

Can you see how many are on invisible status like me?

This is exactly the case. On days when we get something Hall of Fame-worthy, there are typically 3 to 5 threads on the main page with the #UsualSuspects ping-pongin' back and forth (typically trying to distract folks).

The only one I can think of recently that did NOT do that is Pink outing KRCummings, and that was only because KRC tucked tail and ran.

I miss Scotty. He was special.

Yes, I blame You....You set out in 1998 to create a web site with the sole and express porpoise of finding a way within 20 years to put me on a list with your smart-alec-y partners in snark.

Well congratufrigginlations, it worked.

And 2 years under time at that.

I hope you're happy.

Not a good idea. They will be the ones with world domination as their goal.
