Manu's join date is 8-24-1999. Laurel's is 8-27-1999.

Besides Laurel, the earliest join date for an active poster is Dixon Carter Lee, 11-22-99, although I believe he actually had an even earlier name.

This was my original Forum handle -- DCL. My name was always "Dixon Carter Lee", and I joined Lit before the Forum Boards were created, sometime around April or May in 1999. When the Forum Board was created in August '99 I took a little time to register, because I was already communicating with everyone via email. Eventually I decided to switch over to the Board and just used the abbreviation "DCL". So this is my original Log In. A couple of months later I abandoned it and reregistered with my actual handle "Dixon Carter Lee".

So, really, my "join" date is probably May 1999. That's when I submitted my first story and started communicating with the other writers and readers, before the Forum Board, when Bread cost a nickel and girls were all named Marge or Betty Lou.

------------------------

The odd thing about making a "Hall of Fame" is that, except for Laurel and I, I don't see anyone who actually made the site from back in the day, people like Endlessly, Fake Name (the first troll), Deborah, etc. They're not going to be nominated because no one remembers them. And certainly very few remember Patryn (Raven), if we're nominating the infamous. All these people defined the Board for years, but they're not going to make it into any of the polls because no one remembers them.

Which is cool. I don't have to look back, and don't really enjoy it all that much. I'd rather think about today. But if we're going to play around with the idea of a Hall of Fame and go on and on about who should be on it, just know that it won't really be a comprehensive listing of important, influential or infamous Board members.

And not once do you mention Deep Sea Fishing Rights!

If I was doing my personal HOF it would be full of people like Eumenides and Olivianna and Pyper and Rhys and Glamorilla, but none of them are known by enough people anymore.

I imagine I would vote for all of them, but I fear you are right.

I suppose it's unavoidable.

... Never...

I will have to second—were I inclined to nominate anyone myself, I would have nominated her, but sadly I have no confidence in voting and this has prevented me from participating in such manner.

Besides which, I was quite disappointed to see she had not made the original round.

Quite disappointed! Quite.

And whilst I'm seconding nominations, which I've arbitrarily distinguished from making nominations for purposes of my feelings on the matter, here.

Given how many people, even people who've been here for years, don't seem to remember people who were prominent on the boards 10 years ago, it would seem to be quite unlikely that enough would remember those from 15 years ago.

Incidentally, I think I once [facetiously] claimed to have been both Patryn and Deborah, although I don't think I did so publicly and I can't remember whether I said each separately or both together.

Since 1998. :rose:

Oh, wow!

I came to Lit for the stories back in...'03 I think? Maybe earlier. I know I lurked and read for a LONG time before I was brave (and legal) enough to join. About that time-ish. I really loved your "Advice" articles and I was really sad when they stopped updating.

But hey, I love the forum anyway! :D

I mean no offense but I can't say I agree with you. Plenty of people joined years later after the board got started that are important and influential.

And it's too bad we're only allowed to list people from the GB because the How To and BDSM boards both have really amazing folks in it too!

Well, it's the GB Hall of Fame, not the Lit Hall of Fame, so it wouldn't make sense to list people who don't post on the GB.

And where is he now?

After all that yin-yang about "I'm a part of this board too, I HAVE A SAY GODDAMMIT!!!!!!!"

Fugg him. Re-qualify Phelia. Do it or we'll march.

You shouldn't assume that because I've been silent that I'm not here. In fact, I've stopped in every day since.

Phelia doesn't have the required number of posts to have been nominated, according to the rules (I checked each btw because I thought 10,000 was extreme), regardless of whether or not I am here.

Or, are you suggesting that rules are only applicable to some, but not the chosen few?

Maybe y'all should start a Committee and develop a written framework for a more defined Qualification, Nomination and Award Process, with Sub Committees for the location and design and fundraising for the Virtual Hall.

Then get back to us in a year or two with your Preliminary Findings for Discussion.

Since the rules are being changed now, I think Phelia's count for this round should be reinstated due to the fact that they were likely made in sincerity. Unlike someone's immediate burst of votes because of highlighted scrutiny.

And even though it's your personal wherewithal to post or lurk, I think if you're going to participate in non-political "community events" like this with others and be a (grudgingly anal-retentive) stickler for rules, then you should post more frequently and not be silent. I think you'd agree with that, yeah?

I mean, if you had not said anything and kept mum, we'd virtually be at this same point right now even without you.

Or, perhaps you could STFU and mind your own business...

Thanks anyhow.
