This will be a family trip. We always go Labor Day weekend to celebrate my nephews birthday. This year is the big 8 ! A huge Super Mario party is planned. I may even dress up as Princess Peach

Certainly not with the passion of college football. Likewise, the average southerner is not as passionate about professional football.

I'd say here's some truth behind that. Would you agree it's due to the lack of professional sports in the South?
It must suck having to grow up rooting for a sports team that you may never get to see love because your state has no such team.

I think that has a lot to do with it.
I lived in CT for a while, and my roommates were amused at how rabid I was for College football, and USC. They were also a little amazed at how someone from SC could be a Cowboys fan. Some friends (Cleveland and New Jersey) came with me to a USC game after I moved back, and they couldn’t believe the following for a college game, but the relative apathy for the NFL/MLB
Living in New England, they were huge Patriot and Red Sox fans.
When I grew up, there were no Panthers (I dislike them a lot). The TV station we could pick up was a Falcons station (the were not very good) and most of my friends were able to get a Redskins (disliked them because I was a Cowboy fan) station. When I went to college I could watcht the Braves and Cubs on TV.
