I have a great job in which, quiet frankly, I get paid to break things to pieces and put them back together as a consultant on large and often failing or struggling software integration projects. I never work a project that is on time and on budget - I get to work projects that have run amok. In this role, I am loyal to one person - the executive who signed the contract (and/or the board). This means I get to routinely defy, deny, torment and ignore petty bureaucrats, egomaniacal leaders, and other people who think their title actually holds meaning. I refer to it as the corporate Game of Thrones.
