Crow: I'll eat it.

You see young conservatives interviewed and they tell you just how successful "Liberalism" is at the University level. Keep your thoughts to yourself, maintain a very low profile and learn to simply regurgitate that which your professors believe.

(Readies for a chorus of, I'm on campus every day and I never ever see or hear that going on. You're a fucking liar and you're just making stuff up. Why some of my best friends there are conservatives and they never sound like you. You're an angry old hateful white bigot terrified that you're about to become a minority and lose your "privilege.")

;) ;) :D

Oh look, the chief is trying a preventive herpaderp strike in a pathetic attempt to forestall criticism.

Sorry Chief, it won't work. You can rail all you like, but your demographic is dying out (a combination of hard living, heart problems and "new moan ya", I'm told) and there is no one to replace you.

Been there, done that. My Contemporary Lit. prof. worshiped at Hemingway's feet. In reality the course should have been named, "Hemingway IS God." It was beside the fact that at the time Hemingway was nether contemporary, nor alive. I just had to suck it up and regurgitate. 3 credits of waste for an entire semester.

It's a sad reminder of how fast cancer spreads that Ishmael's cognizance skillz have degraded to the point where he now honestly believes he attended college. :(

It's funny, because every time we have some whackjob with a gun go on a spree here stateside, the outcry from gun-rights activists is always "This isn't about guns, it's about access to mental-health care." And yet with this story here, we see it's really not.

See, these are not people legitimately interested in solutions. They are people instead who would rather do nothing about a problem if the alternative is having to act responsibly. Yet another reason I have nothing but contempt for modern American conservatism. I long for the days of arguing with stuffy old Tories.

You'd scream if your doc asked how many gerbils have been your ass.

I'd love stats on planes out of the sky vs mass shootings. Seems highly unlikely. I could have used gun violence as a whole and the numbers would have worked more in my favor but I was kind.

Armed shootings do happen more than once a month in the US and we don't have armed guards because A) they wouldn't make a difference and people who've looked a the scenarios know and B) we don't care especially if it's just some spics and niggers dying.

A black out on killers names would do nothign and no rational adult thinks it would. Shit happens because of the tools we allow.

I assume you're totally in favor of Hamas and Iran having nukes? No wait. . .self defense is only something you deserve if. . .if what? The rest of us approve?
You are flat wrong here! Many rational adults think that the kinds of people who commit these mass shootings and random killings seemingly without motivation are simply looking to die and leave some sort of legacy! Might not be what you or I wish to be remembered for ( I do believe we are on common ground there!), but many of these guys simply want to be somebody, even if that somebody is known for a heinous crime instead of good! Certainly seems like low hanging fruit to simply stop making them famous when this shit happens!

Funny to me that you and others that you consider rational don't think blacking out their names is viable yet you are also quick to dismiss any role violent video games might play in this type of thing. To me, its something like a driving or flight simulator for killers! Sit and practice shooting two legged prey for hours on end and you might not yearn for something a bit "more?"

Full power to Herp-a-derp deflection mode!

While the number of guns purchased for suicide answers your question the rest is perfect. Lie your ass off, what exactly is he going to do about it?

Where exactly did you get your figures on the number of guns purchased solely to commit suicide? Besides the number of people that simply own guns verses the ones that may have bought them to commit suicide would bog down the doctor on an issue that does not apply but to a very few. I would think that if someone purchased a firearm for the purpose of committing suicide, they would be dead before a doctor could question them about gun ownership.

The Hinkley syndrome.

Yeah you can believe that shit all you want it just makes you dumb.

Blacking out their names would do nothing, these people are largely sick and the fame doesn't seem to be something that really adds in.

Of course violent video games have some effect, the same effect as violent movies, football, teaching kids to play Cowboys and Indians and holding up Boxing and MMA as great things for a young man to get into. It's still a very minor effect all things said.

I didn't offer figures because I didn't remember them off the top of my head. Here's a nice study though. You're up to 50 times more likely to commit suicide within the first year of purchasing a handgun.

The act is doctors have no way of effectively doing anything here and it's a non-issue but if doctors want to talk about it I don't see any reason why we should restrict them.

Gunowners are also more likely in general to kill themselves than the general population. Not for lack of trying mind you but for all the bullshit people say about guns don't kill people, people kill people it's simply not true. I mean not any more true than saying Planes don't fly people, people fly people. Just most of us can't fly for shit without a plane.

Anyway it could very well be helpful if say you're at the doctor for what he thinks might have been a suicide attempt, most people attempt more than once most often starting with poison. So if some kid shows up after magically drinking a half bottle of bleach or Raid it may be a very pertinent question. (Though you might have just told him how to not fuck up next time.)

In the end doctors are professionals and until the government is talking about deputizing them or something similar I don't see a reason to do anything but trust them.

I guess when your facts and logic can't make a decent case for you, result to insults and name calling. Would be nice to have a back and forth conversation where ideas and opinions are both shared and respected. What Was I thinking?

Deflection? Hardly. Just making a point you evidently can't or don't want to acknowledge. Something has fundamentally changed in our society and culture and here is a hint as to what it is not; Guns, including semi-auto weapons have been around and available for purchase for decades. Yes, there are more now, but that doesn't cause people to want to indiscriminantly kill as many people as they can before dying themselves.

I see. That's why the gun violence rate is equally high in Europe and East Asia, where they play just as much violent video games as in the US, if not more. Yyyup.

Check the factors that make you different. That is not one of them. It's not dem darn kids and their darn Playstation boxes. Try again.

ETA: Oh, and I'm not saying it IS guns, so don't give me that. But it's a possible one among others.

I do suspect that part of our problem is education. We have higher abortions, more teen pregnancies and they like to blame it on the media but everywhere's media is much more permissive than the US's.

Stupid people make bad decisions and we don't like education.

*chuckle*

If you want a decent conversation with those guys, you have to learn to believe whatever they espouse, then give everyone else a salvo of hate and then sit back and cackle over your cleverness in handing them their ass.

Forgive me for not explicitly stating that your attempt to deflect the discussion from gun control to video games was a classic red herring logical fallacy, and my belief that such a ludicrous fallacy is not worthy of discussion, but is worthy of ridicule and derision.

Have I acknowledged your point to your satisfaction now?

You appear to be little more than a talking point regurgitation engine who spews a jumble of word salad on command. As such, your points are not worthy of consideration as legitimate discussion arguments.

In others words; If you don't see it the way I do, you're stupid. Got it. Thanks
