Just thought I'd share some services I've come across to help those that are hesitant to engage in the joys of phone sex because they are concerned about exchanging numbers or getting unwanted calls at awkward times, etc. Note: I'm in California, USA, so this probably won't help those in other countries.

First up, caller ID block. This is where it hides your number from the person you're calling. You can pay to have this added to most services, however, even if its not part of your phone plan, the feature might still be available. *67 works for me, and most providers in the states. Simply dial that, you should hear a momentary disruption in the dial tone and then it will be active until you end that call. This service is free from a lot of cable/phone providers. Please check with your service to see if you have it and if there is a charge.

Second, Google Voice. Basically, Google registers a phone number just for you. It ties to a Gmail/Google account, and can be accessed directly though Google chat also. It's pretty much your own personal concierge phone service. You give someone the number, they ring it, Google rings you. You are given the option to answer or send them to voice mail. The awesome thing is you can redirect it to any phone you've set up on your account. Or, if you choose, you can redirect to Google chat only. It can take messages, let you call from the web page, send/receive texts or even block callers. Now you've got a number that you can give out pretty freely.

With all things, you have to exercise some common sense when it comes to dabbling in phone sex. Though I'm sure some people will use this to cheat on their SO's, that is not at all my intent. Whether you choose phone or instant messengers, Skype or email. You should never be giving direct, personal or work contact info to someone until you've had the chance to get to know them first. It's not too hard to get an anonymous account or change the personal details so as not to reveal too much information.

Please feel free to share any other services or tips you might have on this subject. Note: This is not meant for a discussion of KIK, Skype, Snapchat etc. Those are already services that can easily be turned off or blocked or have anonymous options.

Pretty good info. I'd actually like to use the google number for my phone when I list things for sale on craigslist or wherever.

Oh, and here I thought this was going to talk about putting protection of some sort on my phone. I was concerned about what lube would do to my screen, though...

*snerk

I'm *pretty* sure google voice was created for specifically for phone sex. Just a hunch.

The only safe way to have phone sex is by putting a condom over the phone.

For every service that you pay to block someone else, the phone company offers a way for someone to pass the block (for more money, 'natch).

This also doesn't correlate to someone having to give you their phone number initially, first. So when you call them, your number is blocked to them.
Feel free to give google and yahell your phone number. It's just to help reduce spurious accounts to be made. Yes, trust them, and when you do, feel free to call me about a bridge I am selling.

Google and yahell are desperate to obtain personal information about their account holders so they can make money off of selling that information to... the government, phone solicitors, yadda yadda yadda...

Feel free to store moar information on your computer and keep using those credit cards! Yeah, it's not like your computer is predisposed to storing all that information for you where a hacker can nip in and take what they want. Just sign up with lifelock. It's not like their president posted his social security number on TV which prompted his ID to be stolen 38 times, 13 times successfully or that they were sued for 13 million by the FTC for fraudulent claims of 100% security. Let's see, who runs lifelock now? Oh yes, the former exec of Yahell!
 :headdesk:

How can we get in contact with you?

Be aware that blocking caller ID has no effect at all if you call a toll free number (800, 888 etc). It is also very easy to get around for non toll free numbers.

If you're not planning to run afoul of the law or national security agencies, then your simplest option is just get a burner phone. Go to any department store and pick up a pay-as-you-go phone and a card - pay for both with cash. Set the phone up with a false name and off you go. Yes, it can be traced back to you by folks with the resources to do so, but not simply. Never add any numbers or persons to your contact list (stored on your SIM card and often uploaded to the carriers database for backup purposes).

A second option is to simply add another phone to your family plan for an imaginary phone number, then you can take advantage of unlimited calling and texting and simply set the phone aside when you're not interested.

However, I think all in all, StrayKat has the best approach and the one least likely to bite you.

All good advice.

The advice for phone sex is pretty much the same for regular sex. Don't just do it with anybody you meet. That's the primary guideline.

1) Don't have phone sex with someone you haven't established a reasonably trusting relationship with in the first place via anonymous e-mail account. If/when you are pretty sure that they are trustworthy you may move to phone sex or Skype.

2) Don't use your home landline. Even blocking caller ID may not work all the time and having return calls to your home where your kids could answer is not a good thing.

3) The third party Goole voice things are good but if it's going to be a long term thing, consider a cheap pay as you go cell phone just to use for such fun and games. You can get a lot of them at WalMart or Target for next to nothing and add minutes to them with cards you pay cash for. No bills or paper trail. Even your regular cell phone could have numbers that show up on a bill or be checked.

Remember, any relationsiop, in the flesh, phone, or online could turn sour and some unstable people can be very vindictive, even give out your number to one of those "people looking for a quick fuck" websites. It's easier and less of a hassle to dump a cheap pay as you go phone than deal with your permanent home phone. Many years ago, I had an "inappropriate" relationship with a woman who not only outed me to my wife but sent our phone number and e-mail to one of those "People Wanting to Fuck" websites. We got e-mail and phone calls for a week till we got an unlisted number and changed all e-mail. Crazy people can be a pain in the butt or worse.

Always be careful with phone sex. If you do it with just anyone and often enough, you could end up with hearing aids. ;)

Seriously though...never use a phone number that is tied to your Facebook page unless you have set that to totally private. FB's automatic default is set for that number being searchable and you have to flip the right button to change it.
