Unessary waste of lives, money and time

Whooopps! Run Forest, run....

Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns; The organization is concerned the IDF's operation could be the end to Hamas’s rule over the Gaza Strip.

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation.

Security source: Hamas started this escalation to improve its poor situation
Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis.

The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the IDF intensified its strikes against Hamas targets – including the homes of some of its top commanders – it became clear to the movement’s leaders that Israel means business.

BOMB IT!

And again: Hamas leadership hiding in basement of Shifa Hospital

As in 2009, Hamas is using Shifa Hospital to hide its leadership, and as in 2012, it is using the hospital as part of its war effort

A journalist source who is close to security sources in the Middle East says 'Hamas' leadership is taking advantage of the underground structures underneath the Shifa Central Hospital in Gaza as a hideout for commanders and Hamas leaders to protect them against attack by the Israel Air Force.

"In the ongoing battle between Hamas and the Israeli army," the source further related, "Hamas leaders aren't just using the underground facility at Shifa Hospital as a hideout, but also as a command center for Hamas' leaders and commanders, and from here all orders are issued to Hamas activists in the field. Shifa Hospital, which is in the Rimal district in Gaza, is one of the main absorption centers for treating the sick and wounded in Gaza."

Ironically, in 1980, Israel helped renovate Shifa Hospital in an effort to improve relations with the 'Palestinians.' Part of the Israeli renovation included a large underground basement, which includes offices and hospital rooms to absorb the wounded. Until 1940, the facility was a medical base for the British army, until 1950 when the Egyptians, who then ruled the Gaza Strip, turned it into a hospital. According to the source, "during an emergency you can enter the facility through hidden, underground tunnels, which are hundreds of meters away from the facility."

Looks like they aren't so eager to die and meet virgins after all.

There is something a little lopsided -and satisfying- about razing your neighbor's entire domicile in retaliation for the slingshot hole in a window pane.

The purpose of the rockets is of course to terrorize. I am sure they know that Hamas has taken cover, but coming home to a smoking ruin is a nice little reminder..."we know where you live."

But, none of it works.....bulldoze the man's house....rockets still come. Maybe Abbas can make the peace

Profiles in Double Standards:

Didja ever notice how the ones here who routinely advocate for Israel to commit genocide (Miles, Vetty, Queerbait, ad nauseam) are the very same folks who get a case of the vapors when I pray for Miles' daughters to die in a fire?

They put the "duh" in "double standard".

Three rockets were launched at Dimona in southern Israel on Wednesday afternoon. The Iron Dome intercepted one rocket before it could land, while two other rockets landed in open areas.

Dimona is the location of Israel's nuclear reactor. There was no indication that rockets damaged any part of the reactor.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the rockets, stating that it had been attempting to hit the nuclear reactor.

Militants from Hamas's Qassam Brigades said they had launched long-range M-75 rockets towards

At present, Israeli forces are trying to degrade Hamas infrastructure and deter continued rocket strikes. But Operation Protective Edge is also about sending a message to Iran.

After all, for Netanyahu, the prospect of a nuclear Iran poses a terrible threat to Israel’s security. His fear, in my view a well-founded one, is that Iran seeks nuclear weapons as a defining strategic objective. Iran’s possession of such weapons would drive the Middle East deeper into the abyss of chaos. Iran would use its newfound power to threaten democratic movements in Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen and to intimidate Europe and the Sunni Arab monarchies. In turn, these states would probably develop their own nuclear weapons. Iran would also significantly expand its support for groups like Hamas, the Lebanese Hezbollah, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), using a strategy of nuclear blackmail against the states in the region to encourage extremism among these Islamist groups.

And a nuclear-armed Iran is increasingly likely. While international negotiators are currently meeting with their Iranian counterparts to pursue a long-term nuclear deal, the prospects don’t look good. First off, Iran is refusing to dismantle its existing nuclear infrastructure. Indeed, Supreme Leader Khamenei claimed yesterday that Iran had an “absolute need” for 19 times the enrichment capacity that Western diplomats believe the country can (somewhat) safely be allowed. Put simply, there’s a vast diplomatic chasm obstructing any deal. But while the Obama administration believes that President Rouhani might be able to persuade the aging and ill Khamenei to accept a deal, Netanyahu’s cabinet is far more skeptical. Recognizing Khamenei’s literal supreme power over foreign policy, and keenly aware of his pathological hatred for their very being (check out his twitter feed), Israeli officials believe Khamenei is fixated on obtaining nuclear weapons.

Moreover, the rise of ISIS and the meltdown of Syria have forced Netanyahu to take a far sharper view of Israel’s regional security interests. Not since the early 1980s has Israel faced such a diverse spectrum of threats.

This truth takes us back to Gaza.

Meeting Hamas and PIJ rocket teams with decisive force, Netanyahu hopes to signal Israel’s unwillingness to cede its traditional security supremacy. This intent is encapsulated in Israel’s mobilization of ground-force deployments: Netanyahu seems determined to take major risks in pursuit of grand strategic objectives (in this case, the military dismemberment of Hamas). Nevertheless, Israeli operations in Gaza aren’t solely about damaging Hamas. They’re also about broadcasting specific capabilities. In this regard, the scale of Israel Defense Forces air sorties in Gaza has been notable. Advertising its conducting of hundreds of missions each night, the IDF is demonstrating its capability for large-scale operations: the kind of air campaign necessary to attack Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Here, Netanyahu wants Iran to understand his willingness to gamble — even at potentially high cost. By extension, Netanyahu is also warning U.S., European, and Russian diplomats that he won’t accept any deal with Iran that he regards as weak.

Gaza War Continues: Hold the Hudna. “Maybe it’s time for a different approach. How about just…winning?” A war is won when the enemy utterly lacks the will and ability to keep fighting. The Israelis might give that a try.

Advance with tank, bulldozer and flame-thrower.

Let Allah sort his Holy Warriors from their human shields.

Isn't that what the Left wants to see in Iraq? "Those" People just want to kill each other...

meanwhile the JEW PM was advised to cut water and electricity to Gaza, which BTW, Gaza DOESNT pay for

the lawyers said NO

FIRST! KILL THE LAWYERS

Gaza War Continues: Hold the Hudna

We’ve all built our Arabic vocabularies a touch since 9-11, but the definition of words can often be problematic. The meaning of concepts like, say, jihad, are notoriously difficult to pin down, even when they shouldn’t be; I think deliberately. One of those elusive terms is hudna, meaning a temporary truce or “quiet.” A permanent truce, i.e., genuine peace, does not seem part of the vocabulary of jihadists whose sworn goal is to make the world Islamic, sooner or later, like it or not. They just take a time out when it looks as if they could be in trouble, like a hockey player with a twisted ankle. As an example, Hamas is known for its hudnas, cooling down (or pretending to) and then heating up again as soon as possible to do what the beginning of its charter always promised it would do — destroy Israel.

For years the bien pensant of the West (Europe, the U.S.) have urged, actually put strong pressure on, Israel to play the hudna game with Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad and the rest of the sociopathic Islamofascist crew. The Israelis, from a humanistic tradition and anxious to be thought well of, have acquiesced, even when they have the extreme whip hand. The results have been as one would predict: another war, another hudna and on and on. This has been going on since the founding of the state of Israel in 1948, even before that really. In other words, for a long while.

Maybe it’s time for a different approach. How about just…winning?

As I write this, the Jerusalem Post live blog for 6:26 a.m. Israel time is announcing: “A Code Red rocket alert siren was heard a few minutes ago in Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council.” Hamas is evidently still at it.

Yesterday, the terror organization bragged that they had lobbed missiles (missing, thankfully) at the Israeli atomic reactor at Dimona. That’s about as insane as it gets, considering that a hit (were it possible) might generate nuclear fallout all over the Middle East, killing and injuring more Islamic people than Jews, simply because there are so many more of the former, not to mention contaminating the region.

Hamas doesn’t care. And yet I suspect they have been surprised by what has happened to them in the last few days — and so does noted Arab-Israeli journalist Khaled Abu Toameh, who Wednesday published “Stunned by Israel’s fierce response, Hamas sends distress signals.”

Let’s hope Toameh is right and that the terror organization has been so wounded that it is quietly looking for a way to save face and get out — for now. But let’s further hope that Benjamin Netanyahu will resist that call for a hudna and finish the job.
