A big time lit theif. Recognize yours or others?

I remember giving her a story to edit once when she was on the Editor's Forum. All she did was add one paragraph at the beginning putting her lit name as the editor.

I couldn't find any of mine. Not good enough I'm sure but is expected to find Maureen's abduction since she edited that for me and it's long enough

Quality of the ones I saw was variable. I'd say she was being pretty random.

I'm not sure, but I couldn't see one that had any of the text of mine. I was looking on her blog and at Amazon. Better way to search?

I doubt that she abstracted (stole) any of mine, and I'm not eager to search for thefts. But I have an idea: I should insert certain codewords into each of my pieces, innocuous-looking but fairly unique phrases. Googling for the string should return all occurrences. The phrases will be secret, of course. So I won't tell you if I use "Cowabunga, motherfucker!" as my code phrase. :D

That's a really good idea. I'm going to steal it! You're idea that is. and no not the one you just listed! LOL

Code words/phrase may not work in a search as you think. A search of a quite unique sentence from my published novel doesn't turn up anything, even my novel. I then tried a sentence from my Meeting Leilani story and surprise! My story here and on StoriesDesired.com showed up. I didn't put it there. The pirated story had my title, my name, and the story word for word. Searching by title only finds my Lit version but lots of references to Leilani. Maybe the other was buried pages-deep in the results.

WTF. I found another story of mine on a different site, one that tried some attack that Norton had to block when I clicked.

Welcome to the real world of piracy, eh?

Stories from here are on a site called international xxtreamcam, complete with the author name and the copyright symbol. And also on a site called nudepile, although that one lists itself as 'the ultimate search engine'.

My stories end up on torrent sites all the time. It's frustrating. There is a standard take down form you can send the owner of the site that requests they take your content down. I did it once successfully with scribed, but now I just don't bother. Who has the time? I'm not sure it has a big impact on sales, but I may be just saying that because I'm too lazy to go after the bastards. It would be worse if no one was interested in stealing my stuff. At least the thieves have got good taste. :)

Or you could do what I do: I put the stories in the market first myself (or, rather, my publishers do) for three months or more. Other than contest entries, then, I've already made most of the profit from them myself before they even post where the pirates can get to them (without buying them from me).

If My stories are on another free site under my name it is what it is, hazard of posting here.

But finding them for sale is a different matter altogether.

found another copied story

just quickly browsed through the previews.

the story "Taking Abby" (second story on Turner's "Erotica Collection #15") is a direct copy of this story on Lit: http://www.literotica.com/s/taken-44 (with only a name change).

Unfortunately I cannot contact the author because for some reason Lit thinks I'm a spammer (I swear I'm not!!!) so if someone would ping Mr. James to let him know his work was stolen, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Annie (small_town_girl)

Done.

I am really sorry for everyone to whom this has happened. Such a nuisance to get this put right, but in this case it's clearly important as it's being done on such a wide scale and to profit parasitically from your hard work and creativity.
:rose:

I will try to check for my stories, although mine are also so weird I have never had them copied! :)

Hi STG

That's done and the author notified.

Re being classed as a spammer...

Have you paid this years subs yet ??? :))

Stop it, cheeky YamYam! LOL. There are no subs.

STG, have you tried PMing Laurel and Manu and assuring them you're not a spammer?
:)

STG found 6 more stories on just the first page of the author's listings that were direct copies of Lit stories, plus 2 that were copied from other sites. She messaged all the authors.

How did you see the second story? The several Collections I did the look inside I saw nothing but her copyright BS(what a joke) and maybe the title of the first story.

I can guarantee those anthologies are full if lit authors.

If people keep popping back here.....

There was a good point made that some authors might be leery of contacting amazon with their personal info therefore declaring "Hey I wrote that gnag bang or non sent story....

I am going to ask the people who found stories to pm me the amazon title on her page or direct link and the link to the lit story.

A publisher that I have been working with-the one that already lodged the complaint on mine-said she will take the list and send it to amazon under her publishing account and simply say after finding mine she decided to start checking and they may want to know that many of the other works are stolen as well.

I'm taking the liberty of answering for STG since we've been emailing about this to each other but I don't know if she checks in here regularly. She said she could read enough on her Kindle to know.
I will email her to see if she can repost the list here.

copied stories

hey y'all,

i don't hang around here much (sorry!) but this just pissed me off so bad i spent a couple of hours today chasing these copied stories - and boy was there a lot to chase!

the way i checked is simple: i took the first sentence of Turner's story (anywhere i could find one after the disclaimer BS) and ran an exact phrase search on google. then read the next couple of lines just to make sure it wasn't a freak coincidence. guess what, it never was...

below is a quick list. all authors had been contacted to let them know their work was stolen.
