Here's an idea from an Anon (who isn't so anonymous) which I've given a lot of thought. I think it might be a good idea.

"Romance" in the best tradition

You manage the tricky bits of dialogue and the passion of feelings in a manner the rest of us should learn. Real heart-string pulling stuff !
Have you ever thought of a teach-in on lit?

HP

What does everyone else think?

The idea is someone could ask a question about the best ways of phrasing certain thoughts or ideas, and those willing to share knowledge can respond. Any takers?

I like it. When I start writing again, I'll give you a go.

I don't do anything with the word "teach" in it between now and the end of August. Maybe if you call it something different. :D

Yes please.
I don't care what it's called.
But those of us who think our writing is not so good could use the coaching, I suspect.

This idea has been tried, oh! a bazillion times at LIT. I stepped in it when I first came aboard, and nothing has changed in 7 years. What folks want are acolytes NOT improvement.

Well, dear, it's your idea. Care to start off?

Molly!

. . . sorry . . . I've been writing . . . .

So have I. My muse took a long vacation, but now the bitch is back and won't let me rest.

I have garnered a great deal of knowledge here. Most of those who once helped me are now gone, but I appreciate every thought shared. There are still those out there who want to be better and search for a coach.

Hell yes. Mine could be...what NOT to do! :D

Sounds like a good idea. Many other writers forums are gauged towards critique and improvement, and they seem to work quite well. No reason it couldn't be done here.

Ah, but you've never seen a simple set of questions degenerate into chaos like could only happen at Lit.

I love chaos. :D

How do you scratch an itch when your shoulder is in a sling?

With the other hand and a wooden spoon or chopstick.

Writing question: Everyone says 'let the dialogue tell the story, don't narrate'...How?
