I'm resisting reading the old school book. I might need an intervention.

iPad's less heavy to take a library with you on trips...
Quite. We used to travel (2-6 weeks) with a couple boxloads of books to keep us informed and occupied. Then we got mini-notebooks (10in Sony VAIOs) stuffed with texts, and only needed a half-box of maps and guides. Now we can get by with one VAIO (or maybe a 12in ThinkPad), an 8in Vizio Android tablet, a tiny 1.5TB mini-drive loaded with a zillions of docs, and a folder of maps. (I don't care how good mapping warez are -- we don't drive around Mexico without the latest Guia Roji road atlas.)

BUT... everything ever printed has not yet been scanned. Every printed material cannot necessarily be formatted for small screens. Big printed pages still have a place in the world. Someday we'll have thin roll-up 10x20in / 25x50cm screens, ooh la la, and we can dispense with even more paper. Someday. Hold not thy breath.

And, leafing through pages is a totally different experience than scrolling thru screens. Screens are great for searching. Paper is great for scanning and glancing. And for swatting bugs.

And there's nothing like the smell of a new paperback. Or hardcover.

And since it has a built-in light source there is less risk of suffering the wrath of an angry wife if I want to read in bed at night...

Back-lit screens have saved many a relationship! he'd fall asleep reading his book with the light shining in my eyes, at which point I'd have to get out of bed pad around to his side and turn it off. Sheer torture ;)

What about the clapper? :D

We both have Ipads. Sometimes reading the same book. I take it as a personal challenge to finish before her.

Am I the only one that can't stand the smell of a book? Kindle Paperwhite all the way.

And if there's a shot to be taken, Swilly takes it. Unlike the Rangers lately...
Oh, now THAT hurts! It isn't like I'm not screaming at the television the entire game. But do they listen? Nooooooo!

Paperbacks are no dittos, are they?

Swilly did you really just join Literotica in April 2013, or did you go by another profile name before?

I love used book stores for the old paper smell! But then I also love the smell of old diesel - takes me back to where I grew up...

Well, first, the point is to not wake him up (having already entertained ourselves...), and second, those things never worked worth a damn, though they sure sounded great. ;)

I had an old user name that I posted one story under years ago, and I never came to the boards here with it. I'd been reading stuff here for years, but never had a presence. Now, I write and rarely read.

Uh, some of us, I mean other people, would need a third hand.

Just saying, since this is a porn, uh, erotica site.

The sexy librarian next door is helpful that way. ;)
