I see another twist: Shady PI has a partner, an attractive woman, who lures married men, seduces them, then plants subtle evidence of the affair for the wife to find. Wife finds the evidence, contacts the PI, pays him to get "convincing evidence" so she can divorce the husband. The PI's brother/colleague/whatever is a divorce attorney.

Until, at some point, either a husband or wife (or maybe both, for an extra twist) uncover what's going on and plan their revenge.
