I so enjoy guessing at the meaning of some of your whitewater lingo
now "lip" of the falls, I understand -- and really like

a closer look at the slippery rock
I gather that sometimes lichen grow on rocks, but have no idea if that's what's happening here. Maybe someone can identify...
meanwhile, I enjoy that whatever's growing on the rock is the same color as my New England OverShoes

Yes, like any other specialized activity, us whitewater kayakers have our own lingo. I don't speak in total kayaker speak all the time. But there are times when I have to use the lingo to describe what is going on because there are no other words. I rarely use terms like, running the brown stout, sketchy, beatering, boofing or other kayaking things in normal every day conversations. There is a youtube video out there called, "Shit Kayakers Say" which is pretty funny.
Great shot!!!! Love seeing you outside in various stages of undress.
Looking at the falls there, it looks like at the bottom in the middle there is a pin rock you might piton on if you run in the center. Depending on what is below, I would run right or left or maybe run it right to left using a fader boof.
Sweet delicious and gorgeous perfection!
Mara,
It's difficult to see and focus on anything else buy you.
This is a lovely photo series.
Your collection of creek pictures is terrific! So sorry about your fall--I'd be happy to tend to any bruises that resulted. Just pm me.
Your river boots are pretty cool too. Your shoes are on, inside the boots?
YES, lots of birds -- the creek seems to be a greenway for wildlife travel
I've seen Coopers and Redtail hawks, tons of cardinals, bluebirds, bluejays, even a blue heron on occasion. I hear owls, but haven't seen them yet. Deer have come up close to the house to nibble roses, and there has been a coyote party in a grassy area above the creek. Their party apparently included a fight and a feast -- the turf thoroughly torn up... wild...
coyote party?
in Australia we call them teenagers
I'm not sure I would recognize a bong, did you have a miss spent youth? however they should take their litter with them, can't have them bring the neighbourhood down.![]()
I found three YouTube vids and by far preferred "Shit Girl Kayakers Say" which is worth it for the three-person effort securing the skirt alone, but lots of goodies there. It even mentions Nomads!!!!
I have enjoyed learning about whitewater kayaking from you. And I'll definitely stick to flatwater!
I've never seen where this creek enters the Hooch, but it has to go under a few roads to get there, though it's probably 1-2 miles depending on the zigs it zags on the way.

I know the guys from the PC video. I had never seen the Girl Kayaker vid. Back in January I had to have two people help me put my skirt on. It was 15 degrees that day and my skirt was about frozen.
But flat is a 4 letter word.![]()
I was too distracted to see what was growing on the rock...or really even that there was a rock. Will have to peruse the pic a bit more....still twitterpated thinking of you skinny dipping.![]()
Might near jealous of that rock Mmmmmara![]()
Yes but you look so good in purple. Or out of it too.![]()
Testing my flexibility, changing colors on me. Butt thislifts my spirits, so to speak!![]()
Must be the walking you talk about that makes your legs such a turn on!
You got all dressed up to display the evidence, now that tickles me.
I love the up skirt shots you are posting, your very generous to the followers of your thread.
There is more water in your creek than I first thought, you are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful spot. BTW water in your creek was not me getting personal!![]()
Lovely pics!!!! That is pretty cool that you are out and about with close proximity to your neighbors. That area is very pretty, like you.
the vids were funny...
yikes! cannot imagine whitewater at 15 degrees! now I'm trying to imagine being in that heavy air just off the water... what an amazing experience it must be...
It was a very cold day to say the least. I caught one wave to surf early in the day and then after being on it for a second until I realized I did not want to pay the consequences of a flip. On the second to last rapid of the day, indecision may or may not have been my downfall and caused a flip. I was torn between taking the safe line and taking the hero line and boofing off the ledge into an eddy below the ledge. My indecision put me right between the two on a convering current line and over I went. Rolled up in a flash but man my hands and face were cold.
thanks, Jason
I just love it back there
that bit of green and water was a huge factor in choosing this house
