Define EROTICA

I don't have a clue.

A reader recently crowned me Master Pornographer, but whats the difference?

Both words stem from Greek and are still a bit vague in definition.

'erotica' from 'erotikos' is generally described as literature or art intended to arouse sexual desire. A 19thC British bookseller first used it to demarcate his 'naughty books' shelf.

Pornography, from 'pornographos', writing about prostitutes, means printed or visual material with explicit display or description of sexual organs.

To my mind, all stories on Lit fall into the erotica cat as there is no visual display.

I think terms like these are pretty much user-defined. For me I'd say that erotica might draw my thoughts in a sexual direction, but porn is specifically for fapping to.

Like for instance starting a thread just to point out that somebody said something nice about you :)

Great post. I agree but owe you thanks for introducing me to 'fapping to'

Erotica has words and a story line.

Porn has grunts, groans, and moans in scenes that may or ay not be connected. Other than at the pelvis that is.

If Limeys had better teeth they'd get praised, too.

I know it when I see it.
That was the answer to the OP.

Have no comment to Limeys with bad teeth, other than that they seem to be using more dentists and smoking less all over Europe, which has really improved smiles. :)

According to various dictionaries and wikis, Erotica (from the Greek ἔρως, eros "desire") is any artistic work that deals substantively with erotically stimulating or sexually arousing subject matter. Erotic literature comprises fictional and factual stories and accounts of human sexual relationships which have the power to or are intended to arouse the reader sexually.

There are many websites are like Literotica. Some created the websites by former Literotica members. They are getting better. Their erotic stories are good. They have not been around long enough like Literotica. They are still growing.

Non-erotic: Sex is incidental to the story.
Erotic: Sex is essential to the story.
Pornographic: Sex is all. What story?

I though that non- erotic had no sex.
My one-page story XYZ-BOMBER JOURNAL is non-erotic -- the topic is political violence. Sex is mentioned and briefly described, but is not a major feature of the story, which would not really have fit into any of the erotic categories. On a different tangent, my just-submitted THE BIG BANANA contains graphic sex -- but unless you have a mollusc fetish, you probably won't find it erotic.

Hypoxia you sure?
Probably.

What if I write an autobiography and call it THE MAKING OF AN ANAL-YST?
