NSA was never about foreign terrorists...terrorists don't do wifi in their caves. Small cells that are cautious about meeting each other in public, obviously do not articulate their plans, methods, or associates on their mySpace page.

It was started to sort the signals intelligence gathered en masse from the Eastern Bloc during cold war days...

When that mission was lowered in importance they focused the guns on the walls inward. Partly it is ideologically driven...part of that is a bureaucracy wanting to justify its funding.

It has gained support by its activities coordinating efforts with law enforcement but really only as it relates to drug and money-laundering cases because that's were the money is through RICO seizures.

Anyone that recommends lower levels of government spending is a threat to their existence.

Honestly why in the fuck does the Dept. of Education have or need a SWAT team or for that matter the Department of Agriculture or the Consumer Product Safety Commission, really how many hardened gun toting criminals do any of then run across or for that matter if and when they do why in the hell do they feel the local police's SWAT is incapable of handling the situation where a woman is suspected of of college financial-aid fraud, planting illegal plant seeds (no not those kinds of seeds) or selling unsafe consumer products?
