How Global Warming Really Works

Oh really? Which crops should we start growing in the deserts?

Overall, deserts have been growing smaller over the last thirty years or so, not larger. The planet has been greening at a remarkable rate. Plants love CO2.

Dumbass...

Look at how much unused land mass is in Russia and Canada due to the cold.
You can eat land mass.

Only if you count Antarctica.

The latest estimates indicate that 12 million hectares of land are transformed into new man-made deserts every year (UNCCD, 2011a) http://2sc.unccd.int/fileadmin/uncc...ground_documents/Background_Document_web3.pdf

If you would like to know the most uncommon theory to this day about global warming just email any one of these blokes.

The sighs of exasperation in this thread alone are enough to turn fossils into fuel.

Only if you count Antarctica.

One day we may be able to :)

There are vast areas of the planet that are of very limited use to us today because they are permanently frozen. Getting them into a more pliable temperature zone might not be such a bad thing.

Wrong. The planet as a whole is getting greener. It's something like 17% greener now than it was about thirty years ago. Deserts in various parts of the world are getting greener. Northern areas as well as southern are getting greener. As I said, plants love CO2.

12,000,000 hectares is an area the size of Pennsylvania. That's the increase in desert area every year.

Discounting the inaccuracies of such claims, the creation of deserts are not due to climate changes but local population growth. Too much livestock is removing the grass, trees are being cut down and generally the land is being grossly mismanaged.

"Inaccuracies" is putting it mildly. You may find this interesting, for example:

http://www.thegwpf.org/rising-co2-level-greening-planet-earth-study/

"A new study based on satellite observations, just released globally by Australia’s science agency the CSIRO, is likely to cause a stir among anti-carbon dioxide global warming alarmist circles. According to the study, over the past three decades the rise in atmospheric CO2 has contributed significantly to the greening of our planet."

Great article. That's exactly why the flora was so diverse and prolific during the jurassic age. Increased CO2 level in the atmosphere will not hurt us, but it will super charge the plant life... which in turn will absorb the CO2 and eventually reduce the level again. Nature provides it's very own regulation mechanism...

...but of course it's much more fun and way more profitable to predict the end of the world and whine with the alarmist crowd. So that's what many do these days...

Exactly.

And it's probably pointless to discuss how much moisture is going to be circulating in the atmosphere.

Ishmael

It is kinda pointless. The moisture has to drop in strategic locations at strategic times. Snowmageddons and hurricanes don't particularly help and that also making the hopeful assumption that the rainfall over North America remains roughly static. If for some reason Africa gets all the rain that's kinda balls for America. Don't get me wrong I'd lvoe to see Africa flourish but I'm not really in the mood to trade.

While I'll wait until more research comes out either way, I'm not a plant.

I know, yet these very same 'scientists' tell us we're going to have storms of increasing frequency and severity. Gotta love it.

Yep, and they seem to be correct on that.

And we may lose vast areas of the planet that are currently used for growing food. Most crops grow under very specific conditions and the conditions that give us access to Antarctica may very well rob us of access to North America. Which is where most of us live now and get most of our food from now. If you're ready to start up the NWO and get a one world government then I could care less where the food is grown but until such a time I kinda like the status quo and and changes to said status quo should be on our terms if at all possible.

Bwahahaha. You can't believe that bullshit.

The Jurassic Age? Forgetting that you most like like meant the Mesozoic Era, humans (and all life on earth) are evolved to live under the specific conditions that exist right the fuck now not tens of millions of years ago. Super charged plants (ignoring the fact that it doesn't really work that way) won't do a damn bit of good if we can't handle it.

Ish used to say we should plan for the worst. . .though I don't hear even the most extreme alarmist talking about the end of the world. Just terrible inconvienence.

Why? What's underneath the glaciers besides solid rock?

We know Greenland was once fertile enough to handle a viking settlement that apparently didn't have to compete but so much with the locals who were expert fishers.

Bullshit? It's called science, and of course I believe it. Even scientists who are concerned about global warming believe it. It's been proven by satellite observation, and it should come as no surprise to anyone. It's long been known that plants love CO2.
