Liberal hypocrisy at its very best! Sickening.

City University is paying liberal economist and columnist Paul Krugman $225,000 to become a professor — but he doesn’t have to teach a course next year.
The rich deal for Krugman — a Nobel laureate who rails against income inequality — was spelled out in documents obtained by Gawker.

Krugman will serve as a “distinguished scholar” in the CUNY Graduate Center’s Luxembourg Income Study Center.

“As a distinguished professor in the Ph.D. program in economics, your nine-month salary will be $225,000. During year one (2015-2016), you will not be expected to teach or supervise students,” said a letter to Krugman, explaining how much he would get and what he would have to do for his paychecks.
“Instead, you will be asked to contribute to our build-up of LIS and the inequality initiative and to play a modest role in our public events.”

In year two and thereafter, Krugman, a New York Times columnist, is expected to teach one seminar per year, the letter said.

Krugman described the offer as “remarkably generous” in his response to CUNY.
He will be provided with a graduate assistant, an annual research/travel fund of $10,000 and up to $10,000 in moving expenses, according to the documents.
CUNY did not spell out Krugman’s compensation when it announced in a February press release that he will be leaving Princeton University to come here next year.
Gawker obtained the details through a Freedom of Information Law request.
CUNY previously caught flak when it offered to pay four-star general and former CIA Director David Petraeus $150,000 to teach a class.
The deal was subsequently squelched, and Petraeus agreed to take only $1.

Are you saying they're naive? Come now!

No, that he is telling them what they want to hear because they have adopted the same economic belief system that guided Germany and Austria from the 1880s to 1945...

;) ;)

“Some years down the pike, we’re going to get the real solution, which is going to be a combination of death panels and sales taxes.”

JAMES TARANTO: Poor Little Rich Man: How to become a millionaire by lamenting income inequality.

Being a “distinguished professor” of economics at the City University of New York is nice work if you can get it. “During year-one,” the boss explains in a letter to the new hire, “you will not be expected to teach or supervise students.” In subsequent years, “you will teach one seminar per year.” In addition, the boss informs the distinguished professor that he “will play a modest role in our public events” and “will be asked to contribute to the buildup” of one of the university’s programs.

The pay is $225,000 a year, plus a $10,000 expense budget–and the distinguished prof gets summers off.

Gawker.com reports that CUNY’s new distinguished professor is none other than former Enron adviser Paul Krugman. The program he’ll be helping build up in exchange for this generous compensation is the Luxembourg Income Study Center and particularly its “inequality initiative.”

Isn’t that rich?

Yes, it turns out lamenting income inequality can be quite a lucrative occupation. By comparison, Gawker notes that adjunct professors at CUNY make about $3,000 per course, or 1/75th Krugman’s rate, and undistinguished tenured professors earn a maximum of $116,364, a little over half Krugman’s salary, although presumably many of them teach a full course load. According to 2010-12 census data reported by the public radio station WNYC, the median household income in New York City is $50,711, or 22.5% of Krugman’s CUNY salary.

Love it.

Maybe they should have hired Joe the Plumber instead. Then he might have made that $250,000 he claimed to be worth.

I didn't think we were allowed to question how much the rich made. Has our position on that issue changed?

It's NYC. $225,000 plus allowances doesn't go as far as it used to.

These folks don't live where it cost anything to do so.....they think it's a joke when you tell them the most 70k a year will get you is a roach closet to crash in.

225k is at best middle class in NYC.

Then they look...."OH I just LOVE San Francisco...I wonder how much .......FUUUUUUCK!! I'm going back to Kansas, lovely visit, see ya laters!!"

That seems like an awful lot considering he won't be teaching. But that's not a ton of money for what professors are now making in Business, Law and Medicine.

And conservatives, is $250k a year rich or is Krugman merely middle class, since you are going all liberal hypocrisy here.

You're missing the whole irony of him getting $225,000 for not teaching a course about income inequality aren't you?

I get it, it's just a dumb point since that's not an excessive amount for key folks in a professional school.

But it amuses you guys because you are all stupid, so carry on.

Consider the correlation when a family values Republican is caught being the hypocrite.
