I see mainly men writing stories, being a female I am holding back from submitting writings. I have been published but would like to contribute to literotica.

There are just more men on this site (probably) than women. So stories by women should be in strong demand.

In the alternative, call yourself Fred.

I find that a lot (if not most) of the writers on my favourites list are female. You shouldn't refrain simply because of your gender.

the block you have placed in front of you is yours alone to move. don't use your gender as the excuse. it's unbecoming.

This is the internet Angela - you can't know who is who and what gender they are. Judging from YouTube, some might even be cats

It's true that some of the "women" are actually men misrepresenting their gender for some reason, be it a personal erotic fantasy or a literary device (if you write a first person story from the pow of a girl, you can boost it's credibility by writing under a female pseudonym). On the other hand, there are also women who poses as men or use gender neutral identities in order to avoid becoming the target of a tzunami of private messages from guys with poor social skills and excess hormones accessing the internet from their moms basement.

But Lit is a huge place and we have many girls who I personally will assess to be actual bonafide y-chromosome challenged individuals within a better than 99% probability, and some of those are even among the top writers on he site. So do not feel discouraged Angela, and don't assume that you're a lonely girl lost in a huge forrest of sausages.

Looking forward to reading your work... :)

I also write as jeanne_d_artois.

Originally Jeanne was an experiment to try writing from a female point of view, but most of 'her' stories haven't been successful, except the Laundry Tales.

I now admit that I am Jeanne.

But occasionally Jeanne gets PMs from men who haven't read 'her' profile. They just look at 'her' AV.

For some reason Fag-Ash_Lil doesn't get the propositions. Why not?

I know why Fag-Ash_Lil doesn't get PMs.

She smokes constantly and is always begging for ciggies.

It's not true. I do get rude suggestions...

...but they expect sex for free. They don't even offer ciggies.

There are a number of female writers on this site, but as othets have mentioned, you can't always deduce that by usernames; Cruel2BKind is female, for example. I am, and MugsyB is, and patientlee is, and others.

Don't worry about gender. Write a story and post it.

You mean lack-of-y-chromosome advantaged, right, SL?

Even the girls are crazy in here. And we're usually treated better here than we are elsewhere on Lit. (So I've heard. I don't poke my head out of here too often.)

Nice to meet you.

I think you're seeing shadows in the night.

A large part of Lit's stories are from women - with great success. You'll get cats like loving wives where pointy headed males do despicable things but ignore that.

I'm a girly and have never found Lit male dominated.

Lit is not macho. Just read the stories and pluck up the courage to post.

Just do your thing. Good writing is good writing, and will be well received. Well...that may depend upon the category. But really...go ahead and post.

My second favorite writer is a woman... goldeniangel but honestly my favorite stuff she writes from a mans point of view. Love her stuff.

Lit is not macho???

I'm still laughing. Especially about the burn the bitch trolls who troll the most loving category on Lit. Loving Wives.

Some of the anonymous comments I get on my Femdom stories suggest that (presumably male) anon is threatened by powerful women.

There are parts of the boards that are not as macho as others, but there are abusive males in quantity in Literotica as a whole.

I didn't know you wrote femdom stories, but it's hard to know what everyone writes on Lit, given the quantity of stories.

It takes courage for new writers to publish to Lit, even more so for women. Women are still expected by some to know their place, and some men act as if porn is the last bastion of male superiority.

Angela, I don't know what category you will be writing in, but I am mostly familiar with BDSM and nonconsent. Of the 20 HOF stories in BDSM, 13 are by writers I know for sure to be women; several more are probably women based on their names but I can't tell you absolutely. We have LBGrant, funinthesun girl, Addicted2writing, Deathandtaxes, Waterburn, Ownedbyconway, Lady Mira, justahole, smalltowngirl, goldeniangel, and many more.

Come on in! The water is fine! (And at least half of us are mature women with jobs and kids and are having the most fun we've ever had!)

I write and I am a girl, but i guess I never really thought about it as being male dominated here. This is a great hobby to have, loads of fun.
I think as a whole the Authors handout is pretty accepting of everyone, male-female, gay-straight, kinksters and missionaries.
As for lit itself, no matter what you write or from what point of view, people who like your style will find you, and you can put everyone else on ignore ;)

I'm a weird little Aussie chick and even I have friends on lit :D

If an un educated dumb fuck like me can do it, you should have no problem. :D
