House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) previewed his upcoming legislative proposals for reforming America’s poverty programs during an appearance on Bill Bennett’s Morning in America Wednesday, hinting that he would focus on creating work requirements for men “in our inner cities” and dealing with the “real culture problem” in these communities. “We have got this tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value and the culture of work, and so there is a real culture problem here that has to be dealt with,” he said.

Ryan also cited Charles Murray, a conservative social scientist who believes African-Americans are, as a population, less intelligent than whites due to genetic differences and that poverty remains a national problem because “a lot of poor people are born lazy.”

Absolutely. The last thing ANYONE should have to do its take care of themselves.

Spoken by one of the last 2 people that believe voting actually accomplishes anything.

It's not like Democrats are a whole lot better. Clinton is a large part of what got us in the present mess.

Whites should forget about trying to help blacks. Black activists get mad when positive solutions are offered. Why waste time trying to help those who don't want it.

I'm not black, you are.
And you can vote for any fuckhead you wish to, no one gives a shit, other than if you voted for Barry you are an idiot.

Sorry, I must have missed something there. Please explain.

Neither McCain nor Romney had any plans to lift up the poor at all nor to help out the black community. I'll be the first person to admit Obama hasn't been the transformative figure hoped for (but not expected honestly) but there as bad as the Dems are there is no intelligent reason for anybody who isn't white, upper class, straight, and Christian to vote Republican. If you don't fall under ALL these categories you're fucking yourself when you vote Republican.

Well I wasn't really thinking of accomplishments along race lines, although O was elected by a predominately race based electorate.

My comment has more to do with the way this president has quashed civil rights and trampled the constitution with violations, and has been caught lying about serious issues more than several times. *note that I won't be posting and linking the citations for these statements, they are already well documented and available online.
I fear the US is heading down a fascist roadway and it is gathering speed.
The government, and all the people of wealth (top 5%) will no longer tolerate protests and dissent. These forms of free speech are integral to who and what the US was. I say was because the past 15 years or so has seen unprecedented assault on freedoms by government agencies and departments. There is no one to rein them in, and in fact they are encouraged to continue, especially by this president.
I actually mourn the loss of liberty the American people are experiencing this at this time, and hope that the people take back their freedoms.

I agree with you on the centralizing of authority under the President being a major issue. Problem is both parties are strongly in favor of it.

Of course you were thinking along racial lines. There was no other reason to say that if you were black and voted for Obama you're an idiot.

No he hasn't been caught lying on several issues. He's got a few but well within the average and the biggest one probably comes down to him making the classic mistake of treating Americans like adults.

The top 5%? You mean the top 1% will no longer accept dissent and Obama HAS tried to tax them and HAS tried to raise the minimum wage and has tried to keep "entitlements" up all of which will bleed that power from the top back to the people the the right has done a fantastic job of stopping him cold. If THAT is what your argument is against then you need to vote for the most radical lefty you can find for the next twenty years and pray it's not too late. (If you're not willing to shed blood it's probably quite a bit too late.)

Over all the loss of liberty has been minimal and mostly ignorable if you aren't just whining. I'm not a fan of it but I'm not gonna pretend that I'm any more worried about cops kicking in my door today than I was ten or twenty years ago.

I think the last five years and to a lesser extent the eight that preceeded that have proven that the President if anything lacks the power necessary to be an effective leader and we'd probably be just as well eliminating the position all together.

agreed

anyone that voted for obama is a fucking idiot. period.

its just that simple

It's not like Democrats are a whole lot better. Clinton is a large part of what got us in the present mess.

Actually, during Clinton's time in office, we had a budget surplus, a booming economy, and an unemployment rate of less than 5%.

Would you like to try that again??

Shouldn't the black leaders be the ones who are leading the charge out there to raise the poor in the black community instead of blaming everything on the republicans?

You missed a word in the first line that makes a considerable difference in the outcome.
I said I was not thinking accomplishments along racial lines. Accomplishments viz a viz other presidents.
The racial lines I alluded to (including in the first post) were to point out that many people voted, and actually got out to vote when otherwise they would have ignored the election, simply to elect a black man president.
Nothing else mattered (s) than to have that smiling black face behind the seal.
That is the racial component.

And even had they not the result would have been the same. It's not like Obama won by a minor edge and that would only apply in 2008 anyway. The fact of the matter is he was the better candidate by a strong margin both times.

Better candidate may very well be true.

Better than what though, terrible? No. Just an opinion though.
