Would you ever...

Would you ever... ...flirt with the parent of someone your son or daughter was dating?

Why not? They'd probably be about the right age for you, and if they were single it would be a no-brainer, right? If they were married, but the marriage wasn't doing well,....?

I'd be willing to bet that a whole lot of new marriages come about by just such "introductions" ...friends of family, friends of soccer moms, parents of school kids, ..... The list goes on and on.

well them being single for one thats a line no one should cross. ...

Oh, geez, is that like one of Obama's red lines? ;=)

I think that little "line" is crossed about a billion times per day all over the world. Makes the world go around, don't it?

Yes, DH it does make it go round and round and round

Different but in the same vane. I flirted with the daughter of the woman my dad was dating. It was fun. Never went farther then a bit of grabbing between the two of us but back then, I was ready to lead her to my room anytime she was ready

I moved to a new area as a teenager and met a set of sisters in the area. Liked both but never got to that side of things (though there was always flirting with the younger sister). Summer before I turned 18, I flirted with mom. Right after I turned 18, she jumped my bones. Six years before we went our separate ways.

So yes, flirt with the parents, you never know :p

Well, I don't know about making it going around, but it does fill it up with a lot of conflict, angst, heartbreak, and squalling babies...

You going to say it so casually and not tell use the story? ... selfish.

I was good friends with a guy in high school and he was dating this girl. His mom met her dad and they hit it off. Fast forward two years later the guy and his girlfriend have broken up but the parents well they got married. I just hope for the sake of the guy he didn't sleep with the girl, because that would make it even weirder. But in the end they were a happy family, nothing crazy. Hence the saying "love is a funny thing"

I had a friend, almost the same story but the children lost their virginity to each other before the parents hooked up

oh boy, that's a hard one to explain in the future.

Why do I get the feeling that this is a very curious thread?

AFAIK, in the UK there is nothing to prohibit two step-siblings from having sex or marrying. Indeed, it would create quite some difficulties, if such marriages were banned, if two people were to marry and then, subsequently, a parent of each was to marry. There are no blood relationships involved so what's odd about it?

I agree that if the step-children had been brought up together, in effect as siblings in a family relationship, then some people might look askance at it but I take it that is not the scenario posed here and that everyone involved is above the age of consent.

Equally, in the UK it appears that even step-parents can marry their step-children after the death or divorce of their spouse, provided that both are over 21 and the step-child has never lived with the step-parent in a family relationship while under the age of 18. This is clearly to prevent abusive relationships.

Probably nothing is wrong with it from a biological standpoint, my guess is that the OP has a crush on his son's or daughter's boyfriend's or girlfriend's mom or dad, (hope that made sense) and he's feeling a little conflicted about it. Biologically no there is nothing wrong with that, but it could just make things awkward for all the parties involved and I think that is the issue here.

Anomaly, if I'm wrong please straighten me out, I'm just taking a guess here

How about flirting with your son's girlfriend's dad's girlfriend? (on the side; dad's married)

I see her every now and then in various places. She doesn't know that I know that she's banging the dad on the side, and she's hot, not like the girl's mom.

Sometimes I play with the notion of hitting her up and seeing what happens if she says "yes"...
Come to think of it, there is probably more than one story about this situation posted on this site.
I'll have to go look, now.

Like Tom Clancy said, the difference between fiction and reality is that fiction must be plausible.
