Sony E-Book Store Closing in U.S., Canada

In the loss of yet another major e-book distributor, Sony has announced the closing of its U.S. and Canada E-book store on 20 March 2014:

Each distributor closing reduces the point-of-sales opportunities and encourages the survivors to tighten up more on royalties.

First Coker is remorseful, but is then quick to point out how few sales Sony represented in comparison to the rest of the affiliates.

But it is true that one less venue is one less venue, every little bit helps the cause.

was lack of sales specifically cited as a cause for the closing? Because i know apple is trying to shut everyone else out. I also know that there can be many reasons for a company having a poor bottom line besides low sales.

I just got into e book publishing have published and yesterday officially became a professional writer.. I sold a book! made $2.05! First time I have ever sold my writing, when it was not part of a job, e.g. grant writing.

I was fine until someone suggested I edit a 375-page book for them. I've been trying to close my editorial business down--or thin it out--because writing is taking up so much of my time. My editorial services and publishing consultation Web sites close down in March. I just booted the last two book edits for the next couple of months (I hope) out the door. Heading for the Caribbean now as soon as it stops snowing south of me.
