God yes!

My street could be part of Long Island. Hate New Yorkers. This does not include NY west of the Hudson.

The way they run it I think RI hates itself.

My wife and I are a real life Romeo and Juliette seeing she is from Boston:eek:

You aint seen state hate until you have lived in either Columbus or Ann Arbor and been there when the home team gets beat at home.

The slow-assed Michigan fans finally figured out sometime in the mid-80s to NOT park their cars anywhere near the OSU campus on game day...just in case they got lucky that year.

Alabama does not think of Mississippi as our enemy. It's our evil backwards twin.

Now Tennessee... there is some hatred on that border come football season.

Which down here is most months of the year.

California hate? Not at all. We're too narcissistic to know that other states exist. I mean...there are other states besides us?

;)

(Just to add: regarding Texas, I don't think most Californians hate TX, just Rick Perry)

Most of Texas has no use for Rick Perry.

From PA, and I think I'd put Ohio and New Jersey ahead of New York. Hell, even West Virginia.

Ohio gets the "boring" jokes, Jersey gets ALL of the jokes, and West Virginia gets the "inbred, hick" jokes.

It's all good fun though I think.

And yeah, everyone hates Texas...I've often heard that the way the rest of the world views Americans is how other Americans view Texas. Makes be very sad to think about...

In the UK, we only have the so-called "North/South divide".
Unless Man U are playing Chelsea or someone like that.

Denmark / Sweden

OK if non-americans can play this game, I'll add something too.

Our arch enemy is Sweden - especially when it's about football (and I mean the European version).

If you have any doubts, read the Scandinavia and the World comic on satwcomic.com
(Oh and it'll also give you an idea about how we view Americans, I'm afraid Darius may have hit the nail spot on. Sorry...)

What happens when Manchester United plays Manchester City?

Manchester United versus Liverpool is probably the greater rivalry, though the Manchester derby has become bigger in recent years.

The rivalry which sees most blood in British Football was Glasgow Rangers versus Glasgow Celtic. Rangers were protestant and Celtic Catholic, but that has broken down in recent years.

The big rivalry down under is of Australia vrs New Zealand, unless it's the Olympics and then we try and claim them as another state and add their medals to ours. I think the rivalry started when we tried ot give Russel Crowe back to them and they wouldn't take him ;)

Within Australia though, Sydney is our Texas, no one likes them unless you come from there.
The northern territory and the ACT are territories rather than states so they try to pretend the rest of Australia doesn't exist.

The east coast states all do war with NSW and like-wise it wars back on us, SA, and WA do war often over football and little Tasmania are so busy hugging trees and making (read that as drinking) booze if you mention any rival between the states they just look at you blankly and ask.... Are there other states?

We probably view Americans more kindly than the European countries do but the stereo-typical loud tourists and the Naval Servicemen/women who frequent our capital cities have done the generous, friendly, easy-going American's no favours.

Back stateside: The matching is simplistic. EVERYBODY hates California, Florida, and New York. Everybody pities Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Maryland. Most everybody in the South hates all non-Southern states, and vice versa.

New Mexico doesn't feel hate towards Texas, but pity. That's because all of Texas is just alluvial debris washed down from New Mexican mountains, spread out and left to dry in the sun like armadillos flattened on Texas highways.

The sports antagonisms I know of are local. Stanford hates Berkeley, UCLA hates USC, etc. We hate our closest neighbors most.

Born and raised in Texas. Yeah, pretty much says it all in the op. Perry is an ass. God help us.

It has to be Victoria that is hated. They steal everything. They stole the Grand Prix. Our footballers. Our land. Not to be trusted at all.

In Australia all the other States hate New South Wales generally and Sydney in particular. Sydney folk don't hate anybody, they do however despise anyone from out of State - on the rare occasions they bother to notice them.:)
