Yikes! North American Ice Storm (Ontario & New York)!

CORNWALL, Ontario - If you thought Saturday was bad, wait until you see Sunday. A second winter storm is approaching with heavy freezing rain for many areas, including Cornwall.

Some communities in the U.S., including St. Lawrence County which is right across the St. Lawrence River from the Cornwall area, have declared states of emergency. Thousands in northern New York State are without power, not to mention nearly 30,000 in Southern Ontario

With roads treacherous and sleet pelting the windshield, I drove a couple of miles to a friend's house where I crashed on the sofa. This morning isn't much better. Hundreds of churches and events closed, there's ice everywhere I look outside, and there's snow predicted for this afternoon.

Good to hear you were smart enough to lay over. Most people get that "Nah, I'll be fine nothing will happen to me" attitude and learn that it can happen to anyone.

Sorry about all of the icers out there. We got rain. The snow is mostly melted. It is over 60 degrees here.

We hit 60 yesterday in RI, think about the same today. Last weekend I was breaking ice on the driveway.

But in general we have been very lucky outside of last weeks 4 inches of snow that turned into frozen slush we haven't had anything other than rain.

I grew up in PA and remember some epic ice storms. It's one of the many reasons I picked up and moved to AZ. Master and I both hate sn*w, cold and all that winter stuff. I love our winter rains, and surprise mountains covered in sn*w...at a respectful distance.

This was "our" mountains on Friday morning. The clouds lowered and stayed that way all day Saturday. Today, not a speck of the white stuff is left. Ha!

I keep a backpack in the trunk with a change of clothing, pajamas, and several days worth of pills. If I think the weather might be bad, I grab the laptop.

The Weather Channel is reporting over 250,000 customers have lost power in Canada, plus some in New England. I was sorry to hear that and hope electrical power is restored soon.

Southwest Lower Michigan, as well as several counties in Northern Indiana, are now under a blizzard warning until 4AM Monday.

Lake-effect snow, heavy at times, will couple with strong winds and very cold temperatures to create white-out conditions at times.


We've had over six inches so far today. And no, not that kind of six inches.

7" (of snow) here last night current temperature is about 8 and tomorrow they are calling for 0 early on with wind dropping it to minus 15

I left Colorado to escape snow and cold. I think I'm far enough south to miss the worst of it. We didn't get as cold as the northern areas of town did a month ago.

It was 15 this morning and will be 12 tomorrow.

With wind gust to about 20-30, give or take, all day.

They drained it but I spent half the day trying to not bust my ass on the ice puddles on the bottom..

I would take a foot of that snow from y'all if I could have back my normal night time temperatures.

Of course a foot of snow down here would shut down the city for a week.:
