Science! "Hyperadaptationalist"

When you put it that way...

THERE MIGHT BE SOME IN THE PHONE BOOK!

(PS - your image did not show up...)

Ah. Well, the breakdown is that it's overwhelmingly white, low relative population.

It's in a monoculture area, conservative and religious.

So there have been gay people born there, there may even be gay people passing as straight there.

I could find them by talking to them, you likely couldn't.

For example...my brother was gay. He lived in the same room with my other conservative, intolerant brother, who would make fun of my "fag" friends openly.

Both brothers were wrestlers, played football, were all-state athletes.

My gay brother was a preppie who went to Yale. Never wore blush.

The conservative, intolerant brother didn't learn until my other brother's funeral that he was gay and he didn't believe it. Also, if he was gay, he taught his conservative, Christian family that "gay" is caused by demon possession.

So there's social selection here. The majority of people who are gay, raised in a hyper-straight society...will never disclose to those who aren't already sympathetic. Since they are a lower percentage of the population (though nowhere near as low as you think) they do better in urban enclaves where racial and sexual diversity is not stigmatized as much and social pressure is less effective because most urban society enclaves can get along just fine.

We're more diverse than you give us credit for...

You might be surprised.

You just challenged me to find a gay person, I said they were there. I don't need faith, just genetics and statistics.

I find diversity when I leave room for it. So I find lots of diversity. Most people who don't leave room for it don't see it but the fact that diversity hides from certain individuals for obvious reasons doesn't mean they're not diverse.

Good lord...

I know that that made sense to you. Your intolerance of rural America is absolutely dripping.

Oh for goodness sake, the drama and spin.

I think rural America is beautiful and awesome. It is not, however, as racially or culturally as diverse as other places. That doesn't mean I despise the culture or race or geographical location.

You were the one that described a social system that discourages men wearing blush. You said I lived in Gomorrah.

I didn't do much but say and show that Kansas is a great place, has diversity that you may not appreciate but that I do. Spare me the attempt to twist it.

I was tolerant of gays till I got in college.

I worked with a gay man we were fond of. He had no agenda or chip on his shoulder, and puzzled us by occasionally fucking a hot blonde who lived next door to me. I always wondered if Tommy was her daughters father.

His boyfriends were insufferable, whiny, pouty, bitches when I ran into Tommy socially. Really rude.

But the university I attended was infested with pissy fags, and cultivated my animus for them.

I wanna engage you NOT your fucking politics.

Yeah, I'd like to talk to you and not your politics, but I'm not getting that either, am I?

Oh go pillar of salt yourself!

I was stationed at Lakehurst, served with many from Jersey and competed against many others nationally and internationally and I know the truth.

Neighborhood by neighborhood, Jersey is not more diverse or tolerant than, say, Wichita...

;) ;)

Good for you.

The things that people know about New Jersey that have never lived here are pretty funny.

When I was in high school in 1985, my male gay best friend entered in the "Miss _______" talent contest for the scholarship money, won, and wore the tiara. We do just fine.

Like Rick says in Casablanca, [para] there are some neighborhoods in Jersey that I would advise the NAZIs to stay out of...

;) ;)

I never dreamed that I would be called upon to fight a forest fire in Jersey...

I always thought that it was border-to-border city.

Of course there are icky parts of New Jersey. There are icky parts of everywhere.

I grew up in and live in an absolutely gorgeous spot on the Earth. Having lived in different places around the country, I appreciate it even more.

It wasn't called "The Garden State" ironically.

When did I say anything about those things?

You didn't have to.

It is the only logical response to Gay Marriage; it discriminates. ;) ;)

It is currently a red badge of courage, but soon, it will be as much a mark of intolerance and shame as the scarlet letter of Traditional Marriage...

I do not like people stacked like cordwood.

So...when you say you know I am intolerant, what you mean is you're making stuff up.

Sure, I'm intolerant of lots of things, but they mostly involve when someone isn't consenting to something being forced on them. NOT when someone just doesn't like what some other consenting adult person is doing.

I am traditionally married. What the hell are you going on about? More making stuff up?

I'm in the suburbs. It's gorgeous. But I'm glad you like where you live, I like Kansas too and would choose to live in a more rural section than urban, it's just more my style. I like space and trees.
