This is the place to talk about the Golden age a pirate group role play, if you want to join up then pelase message me for more info

The basic plot:
It’s 1715 and the golden age of piracy has officially taken hold of the Caribbean, it’s a time in the world where any man who desires to be free can take it as long as they have the balls to see it through. Pirates are becoming more and more popular and the likes of Blackbeard and Charles Vane have turned their reputations into major moneymakers. These “soldiers” of freedom have also gone on and created Nassau the first ever pirate republic and “free land”. Of course the various governments that have a hold in the Caribbean’s (England, Spain, and a few others) do not approve of the pirates and their self proclaimed “freedom” and will do any thing and every thing possible to route them out and punish them for their crimes.

I know I threw a lot of history and facts out but that’s the setting I was thinking for this group role-play, but with our own characters. I was thinking people can play both the pirates and the various governments (if we get a large enough group) and that this would be a political role-play as much as it would be one about being a pirates this is an interesting time in history in the Caribbean’s because for a while some one could truly be free if they had the stones to do so.

The pirate’s would be “tasked” with forming Nassau and turning it from dream to reality, while our various government fractions playing the more political back stabbing and seductive mindset. Of course even the various governments still fought with each other as well as the pirates so the possibilities have good potential with a large enough group. If your interested in this please shoot me a pm and we can discuss it I would love to hear any body’s opinion on this adventure

At this point you seem to have a pretty decent thing going, I don't really have anything to add at this particular point.

I like the plot and the setting. On the other thread I have suggested a high-class tavern, a house with a reputation. For real gentlemen only.

On Nassau, not too far from the harbor, but far enough those only traveling on their feet won't take the extra steps to reach it with so many much cheaper taverns between my character's house and the harbor.

I like the idea but I don't know how well it would work in Nassua every there is a pirate and sailor and while I think most of the captains would flock to it (maybe it can even be there town hall of sorts) the sailors that can't get in might make it go out of buisness

The captains, merchants and a few adventurous travelers will be enough; the establishment will flourish.

Well I know i'm going to be a pirate captain the founding member of Nassua but I wouldn't be so sure I was thinking a pirate council of four maybe five?

we need more pirate captains to

Why? More pirate captains makes group RP impossible. I mean unless we're pirate captains who never ever leave port having 2 means means we've split the players into 2 groups so on and so forth. Ideally we'd have just one captain so the players all stay together.

Because were not so much as going out and terrorizing the seven seas as were trying to turn Nassau from a broken down island to a pirate nation and free state. That's not to say there won't be looting and the like but for the most part we'll be defending Nassua and trying to make it into a free state.

Why would it be impossible? Since most of the role play will be on land (little known fact most acts of piracy during this time occurred on land 75 percent) we can use going out to sea to sail and plunder more as some thing that happens when one of us can't post or some thing, then when we do go out to see we jut sail as a fleet

We CAN do that I just don't see any reason why we should be pushing for more independent people with fewer ties to each other. I can change my guy to a captain if you feel it will make things flow better.

I just feel as if it's only one captain and every one inhabits people other than pirates it might well get boring, if I was the only captain for instance running Nassua then wouldn't that get a little tiresome, I was thinking some thing more along the lines of what we see of the pirate council in pirates of the Caribbean (not that i'd use this movie as a reference very much) a group of pirates who have banned together in search of their freedom who want Nassua to flourish and give every one the freedom they feel they rightfully have.

That could work. Though you did see the movie right? The entire weakness of the Captain's Counsel is that a dozen pirate captains can't agree on shit and nothing ever happens. Like I said though it's your idea, if you feel you need more captains I can easily shift my character, it's not like I don't have plenty of them floating around.

I'm only having a part time Pirate Captain so I don't get tired of writing for the character. My posts are only going to be several paragraphs, long posts take me too long for physical reasons.

I can type too. :D

But in this case there not working for their own gains (as in pirates in general) but for civilians that want to live free, there is a difference between saving their own skins or fighting for the idea that any man could be free if they chose to. It's our idea though and I welcome the feed back and I want to hear what you guys have to say. I think maybe four or five main captains that have already reached a level of infamy and respect in their careers could sit down and say Nassua is a place where a man can be free and then go from there but I want to know what you guys think?

I think having pirate captians working together is a good idea. My character...

Countess Erica Dollen. A perfect young noble lady til her father was hung by the spainish king for dealing with pirates. Her mother had die early in her life so she turned to the closest person to her a dear friend of the family. He is the only one that knows who she is and her past. She goes by Erin Storm now. She joined him on his ship and became a pirate. 3 years later she is the captian of her own ship and has earned herself a reputation for ruthless dealing with the spainish crown's fleet. She is a bit of a hothead and thus finds herself in a lot of fights. Mostly to prove she is worth her salt. She is 5' 8 with black hair and storm grey eyes.

I will also be trying to play as:

Madam Sera- once a working girl herself when she was younger. Years ago she made a deal with a captain and now part owns her own bordelo. She is a hard woman on the surface but is really good to her girls and boys. She is 5'4 with blue eyes and brown hair.

I'm glad you decided to go with both character ideas! I know who my main character is as of know but I have not decided on any secondary ones yet.

I know I will be playing Angel my usual pirate character a young but wise man who founded Nassua after pulling of a daring attack on a spanish slave fleet, he brought the slaves to Nassua and together they all decided to form a free nation, now six months later Angel is trying to be a governor to his "free" nation
