you need to go to the user control panel (User CP) link towards the top left hand side of the page. But you might not be able to do it yet. I believe you need 100 posts before you can upload an avatar or pic.

no problem. When you click on User CP, the first couple of links on the lift will be under settings and options, once you have reached set # of posts, you should see a link for edit avatar, and other for edit profile picture. Not sure if you need the same amount of posts for both or if there are different numbers.
