Hi All,

I received the below e-mail in my mailbox. I didn't reply to it but I sent a copy to Laurel. I think someone was trying to steal my password. Has this happened to anyone else on the site?

I've been writing here since 2007 and this is the first time this has happened to me. I'm waiting to hear back from Laurel.

I just thought I'd warn everyone to be careful and not to click on any suspicious links. I never click on any links even from those people I know.

Hello susanjillparker,

Someone at this email address has requested their password for Literotica.com.

Please visit the URL below to log into your Literotica account and set a new password:

You must click on the above link within 30 minutes, or this request will expire and your password will remain unchanged.

If you have trouble clicking on the link, you may have to copy and paste it into the browser.

If you didn't request your password, then you may disregard this notice and nothing will change with your account.

If you do not know what this email is about, you can ignore it or contact us by responding to this email. Please be aware that this email is sent only by request and the site it is sent from does contain content that is intended only for persons over 18 years old.

Thank a bunch and take care,

Laurel

You have a lot of passwords left over, don't you? Haven't received such an e-mail, though. Wonder who else is receiving them.

First question is whether the URL is at literotica.com or some other site. (Don't be fooled by stuff like "www.literotica.com.passwordstealer.ru" or by cases where the link text doesn't match the URL e.g. www.literotica.com.)

If it's a genuine Literotica link, probably means somebody has activated a "lost password" option for your account. Maybe by mistake, maybe trying to get unauthorised access, but as long as your email is secure it isn't a risk.

If it's not Literotica, then most likely it goes to a look-alike site designed to steal your password.

Thanks for your help. I think someone was just phishing.

As much help as a dead ferret - as normal

A bit more helpful and contributing to the discussion than your post, of course. :D

What shall we praise the dead ferret for? It's dead so we must think of something. Doesn't have to relate to anything the ferret actually did, though, of course.
