Boss-Employee Gap Legislation

You need to go visit China......there isn't a slum in america that even comes close. Compton is fucking BALLIN' compared to 99.999% of Beijing.

We have some pretty shitty rural areas. I mean, we do. The areas where 3/4 of children are food insecure and shit.

I addressed the cost.

So humor me. It matters to me. I am a potential investor.

This is so ridiculously low tech and so elegant that of COURSE people know it will change how businesses are assessed.

I don't think groups should be tax exempt to begin with. Do away with tax exemption.

Report it to the government when you do your taxes, one extra box, have the information available for consumers on request.

Report it to the shareholders in the same prospectus where you say how awesome you were this year and how much you got away with since you are probably overseas and tax exempt. Evil fucks will give you more money, because they already know. People of conscience will hesitate or boycott.

There's a reason some of the companies I own (several are among the world's largest corporations) are domiciled outside the U.S. and take specific actions to avoid having their shares traded/listed here.

There are U.S. companies I own who have taken specific actions to avoid having their shares subject to S.E.C. registration and regulation.

You don't have any fucking right to know what a company pay's it's employees......

As long as the privileged like you keep supporting their lack of privilege that will be exactly the case.

I'm sorry you're voice denouncing it means jack and or shit standing next to the money you spend supporting it.

Yes cry all you want...speak out against it.

"I have morality!! I want good things for the poor poor Chinese workers building apple products working 20 hrs a day for 1.50 how horrible is that??" - Posted from Recidiva's Ipod

Oh, these poor downtrodden companies! That's bullshit. This isn't an undue burden in any way.

I sure do have that "right" if I demand that "right" or I will find another company to buy from. You betcha I have rights if I decide I do.

You have no idea what my purchasing habits are. You can ask Ulaven how much I love Apple and their awesomeness. When he's done laughing, maybe he'll even answer, but you seem to be unable to frame respectful questions in a respectful manner so he'll probably just tell you to fuck off.

You know what you know about me and if you want to decide that you know and you can act on that, then have at it. I find it infantile, counterproductive and righteous in all the wrong ways.

But maybe...just maybe...I actually give a damn and I have for a while, and that's why this matters to me.

But why give me that much credit when you can excuse your own lack of conscience by saying you're on the sides of the downtrodden, not that you would actually ever do anything for them, mind.

I'm not saying we don't...

I'm saying size and scale of poverty aren't even in the same ball park. They have more starving sweat shop slaves than we have people.

And I care about that why? I just want a line in a prospectus and no reason why it shouldn't be there except that it is revealing about a company's culture and codes.

You can't write a law that will ensure uniform compliance and enforcement. It cannot be done. That makes it unfair. It's also duplicative.

Basically, what you're proposing is a form of harassment.

If you're really all that serious and not lazy, the information is already available at the S.E.C.'s website in the proxy statements for every publicly traded company.

It's still a stupid idea.

Where did I say that?

This isn't an undue burden in any way.

Sayz you..

I sure do have that "right" if I demand that "right" or I will find another company to buy from.

Yea...find a company that doesn't outsource to brown/yellow sweat shop labor. LMFAO

You betcha I have rights if I decide I do.

No you don't...you have the rights that the herd gives you, and you'll like them.

LMFAO apple was just an example.....HP...IBM doesn't matter pick one....

Here you are on the internet.....with an electronic device that was either built or filled with parts built by!!! WAIT FOR IT!!!!

Yellow/brown people who make 1/100th what you do. :D

I'm not saying they are downtrodden....I'm saying you can't just go throw companies under the bus b/c you feel like it's the right thing to do.

Sure we can. We've done stupid laws, there's no reason why we can't do an incredibly revealing, easy, elegant, smart one.

If it's too much to handle, may I suggest getting out of business in the same way that I would suggest that a soldier buck up at the prospect of all those gay guys now openly serving.

Actual business and actual war are much harder. This is just an attempt to turn back a tide long in arriving.

Your passion is misplaced.

Fine, I'm an evil, wicked bully out to victimize the rich white guy.

Sue me.

Where the fuck are you coming up with this shit??? LMFAO I never said anything of the sort.....

It's not my fault you support the evil rich white guy with a Chinese labor force.

No, it's not bullshit, it's factually accurate. We're the richest country in the world, and our real wages have been in decline for everyone except the highest echelon of earners since the 1970s. If you'd like information on the matter, I'd be happy to provide it to you.

And I can promise you that i can show you plenty of 3rd world conditions across this country.

Spoken like a GM union worker driving a shinny new Kia

Reci must have me on ignore, since I've given her the actual answer and she just keeps ignoring it.

Made in China....no thanks.

See how I set that up?

Think what you want, but you make way too many assumptions about my level of participation in consumer culture.

I am privileged, that doesn't mean I take it for granted and want more and more privilege. I want more privilege for other people and if that means less privilege for me, I'm okay with it.

I don't have to renounce all I have because that's just adolescently dramatic and rejecting all the things my family gave to me. I am mindful that others don't have the same opportunities. I don't have to join them in squalor to be moral, I just need to use my privileged voice to add to other privileged voices to make a difference. We are the consumers. We set the trends. I can tell a company I don't want that dress in pink but I prefer purple. I can tell a company that it matters to me what that little value is. They listen or they don't, but at a certain point if enough people want it, it is a commodity you provide or withhold at consequence of alienating the people who might otherwise purchase but try to be ethical.

I would like others to have the same opportunity, and if it's too much of a burden on a company and they crack and fold because of one little number, then I guess they didn't have a good business plan to begin with.

Give it a try, see what happens. I'm thinking good things.

You don't have to give up anything. Just buy it free trade instead. I mean, you already said that you "would just take your business elsewhere". Do it.

Help me understand...why is it the responsible of a corporation to over pay people?

This is business not a socialist fantasy

It's all up to the voice of the people....

Unfortunately morality fights an uphill and horribly losing battle with "the bottom line".

Right? That's why everyone needs to boycott non-free trade stuff. What Rec's talking about won't do shit. But there are options. There are actual things you can do. Maybe I'm not changing anything. But at least the money I spend isn't voting for that shit, you know?

I just think that Rec should either actually boycott or shut the fuck up.

For once, you're right... CEOs should be paid less, and are leeches on society.

thanks for playing, welfare jenin!

Another great post...

People just dony realize the negative impact of high corporate taxes...highest in the world

And then they are blown away by the trillions sitting in bank accounts outside the USA...

Taxes = negative roi as congress and cuckold obama waste money

Really? 99.999%, huh?

Show me how you're getting these numbers...

I went there I saw.....and I have never seen ANYTHING in the US even remotely close to the slums of China. To even try and compare the two is complete bull fuckin' shit and you know it.

Show me 3/4 of a billion over worked and starving Americans living in complete squallier stacked 16 to a room hot racking 8 beds. Then you might have an argument.
