Beatles:Ticket to Ride
Beatles:Norwegian Wood
Beatles:Help!
Beatles:paperback Writer

While you were SHAKIN' your ta-tas back in the world I had to RUN THROUGH THE JUNGLE to find the Viet Cong. When we got into a serious firefight the radio operator would call for HELP!At base camp we would be ordered to PAINT IT,BLACK(Olive Drab really).Sometimes we would get a week-old Stars and Stripes newspaper,so I READ THE NEWS TODAY,OH BOY.Once in a while I'd get a letter from my girl saying how she loved her SOLDIER BOY.When a soldier was getting ready to go home he was LEAVING ON A JET PLANE.People would ask ARE YOU GOING TO SAN FRANCISCO?I was drafted,I ain't no FORTUNATE SON.

I do not have a best, but the most influential was the Doors, Light My Fire.

I first heard it on the AM and it transformed the way I looked at music.

I'm surprised it hadn't been mentioned before now. :D It was influential and it is one of my favorites, even now.

You're pimping a 60s band that never had a song chart in the Billboard "Top 40" AND dissing the Beatles?

Hey, I understand people like what they like, but as far as "wrong" goes, there's your "automatic."

Some people seem to think that they become "artsy" or "sophisticated" by disliking anything mainstream.

So since the Beatles were hands down THE most successful band of the time, they obviously have to be crap.

This, of course, is insane.

The Beatles did a lot of nice songs, none of which happen to be in my top 100. My favorite Beatles song is one that a lot of people haven't heard, "I've Just Seen A Face".

Also I'd like to point out that since the question asks for YOUR favorite song from the decade, you can't be wrong. Even if everyone else in the world thinks the song is awful, if it is your favorite song, that is the right answer.

I'd much prefer to do a top 100 list, in no particular order. Too much good music from the 60's, and the rating would change with my mood at the moment.

It would be complicated, but nice to set up a data base that could tabulate everyone's top 100 entries, and keep a running list of the 100 that got the most votes from different people. It would have to throw out duplicates on the same list, as some folks would list their favorite song 100 times just to cheat the voting. It would be bad enough with all the alts. I'd be highly suspicious of any lists that had the same 100 songs, regardless of the order.

But the 60's was such a musically fertile decade, you could also do a list of your top 100 groups/performers. Lots of "one-hit wonders".

Check this list of 60's one hit wonders, see how many you know:
