I dunno...can't you just pull up the LIT user control panel on the iPad within whatever browser you are using and add the AV? Where is the picture you want to use...on the internet, or saved on your iPad?

This was my issue too for a long time. Finally had to use a pc to get the av on, then just back to my iPad. I tried for ages with no luck. I don't think you can.

that's weird, the only requirement to have an avatar should be having 100+ posts. that's it.

i'm not a user of tablets so i have no way of ascertaining if it's different that way but i can't imagine that's so.

as has been said, the pic needs to be stored somewhere online but aphroditiac is right, it should be a fairly straightforward process.

if this isn't working for you, more info will be needed to troubleshoot. ?

I can do it from my iPhone (in fact I've done everything from my phone) But yes, the pic needs to be hosted somewhere like photobucket (which doesn't allow risqué photos if that's an issue)
I've done a step by step before, long ago though. If you need it I can find it, I'm sure. Let me know.

You shouldn't have any problems changing your av. I just changed mine with my phone. I would think doing it from an Ipad wouldn't be much different.

I used to not be able to post an Av from my iPad but something must have changed and I can download it right from iPad photo library.

Pictures should be jpg, gif, or png formats

Avatars won't take an animated gif - (though silverwhisper managed it)

If your picture fits the above dimensions, try moving it to another location on your ipad - then try uploading.

or

upload to flickr/photobucket etc then use
Option 1 - Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website
