I am a long time visitor to this site, but have never posted anything. I have decided to start making contributions. I am old now but as I said in my profile, I decided early in life that I did not want to die not having sampled everything life had to offer. I've done a credible job of accomplishing that.

My question is this. Everything I post will be true. My life has turned out to be a continuous series of adventures both sexual and non-sexual. Obviously I will only post the EROTIC ones here. The thing is, I do not know how to go about this. I think a series of stories starting from when I was young and going through the present when I am old, would make an interesting book type account of my many many varied sexual adventurers. BUT, obviously, the middle chapters will be the best, most erotic, most exciting, most perverted (if you'll excuse the word) stories, while early and late ones will somewhat pale in comparison.

So what to do? Develop a series of stories about a life time of eroticism showing the growth of a boy into a man, or do I post the "blow you away" stories first and as time goes on move to the more mundane?

Your opinions will be truly appreciated.

Sorry this is so long

Just start writing and see where you end up. If you agonize over how to get started, you'll never take that first step.

I think non erotic will also add character to who you are also. Fun, quirky added to the mix.

You might consider starting small. Share with someone on Lit who you like and have confidence in - and don't share everything all at once. Leave plenty of room for feed back and real two-way sharing.

I think that before that guy (sorry everybody) wrote the epic story of Moby Dick, he wrote a lesser known short work, 'Tiny Tadpole' (or something like that) in which he refined his author's voice and writing style. ...might be a good way to start out.

I agree with Eilan. Just write. Write every day. Write even if what you are writing is crap. [laughs] Soon you will see a shape emerge. And remember no writing is done in one sit down. That is why editing is so important.

I would also agree with Aquagal in that adding the non erotic adventurous helps to flesh out a character. People rarely connect to a character just from reading about his/her sexual proclivities and accounts. Showing adventures that shaped the character and created a change will allow the reader to identify with him/her.

Check out the writing forums (Author Hangout, Story feedback, and even Editors Forum). There are some threads where you can participate in writing exercises and chat with other writers.

Good luck!

Thank You

Thank you all for your input. I will go to some of the other forum areas to get more input. I like the idea of putting some non-erotic information that helped form my personality and later life. I seem to remember there is a section for non-sexual/ minimally sexual postings. More input/opinions will also be appreciated

So where will you be posting this? Also, I don't think everything needs to be in order. You can remember back. A forgotten memory that just popped up.

pastdue, one little detail: due to the laws governing sex-related sites, please refrain from writing anything relating to sexual experiences you may have had prior to reaching the age of 18.

otherwise: you're good to go!

Thank you for the info. I will respect and abide by the rules of course. However, don't you think that 18 is a little old? I really don't think 5% of my high school graduating class were still virgins, and that was about a thousand years ago. LOL

One other question on the subject. What is the definition of sexual experiences? I have never had a thing for children except when I was one. If I were to write something about, say, skinny dipping with a bunch of other kids, is that a violation or does "sexual experiences" require a sexual act to be deemed unacceptable? Thanks again Pastdue

Thanks for your reply Aquagirl. While I have never posted anything here, I have enjoyed visiting Literotica for many years. I thought it was required that you post in the section your story most pertains to. ie. a wife story where she strips, must either go in loving wives or exhibitionism. Is there another way to do it? I appreciate the education on site protocol; I am receiving from one post in the forum. Thank you all very much. Pastdue

pastdue: i know what you're saying but what you or i think of it is irrelevant, lit's still gotta abide by it.

Yup. The site owners say that characters who engage in sexual acts have to be 18. Characters can be under 18, but they can't be doing anything remotely sexual.

This Lit rule isn't going to change. If that's a problem for you, I'm sure you can find other sites that will publish your work. *shrug*

Nope, no problem. That is why I am asking all the questions, I want to be sure and stay within the rules. However, no one has addressed my actual question. What is the definition of a sexual act? Would a bunch of kids playing "spin the bottle" for clothes be acceptable or no? A bunch of mixed sexed friends skinny dipping, acceptable or violation? Thanks for the help. Pastdue

sorry, i missed that question.

honestly, i would interpret that as absolutely broadly as possible. i can't give you a strict definition. what i think you need is a legal definition and as a non-lawyer, my word doesn't mean boo in that respect.

if there's any doubt whatsoever, i would suggest you leave it out.

re: story categories, those are almost entirely at the author's discretion. me personally, i would say that whatever gives your story its erotic charge is how you should make that determination.

First get yourself an icon.

Then maybe it would be good post comments and stories in existing threads, you know, to get a feel for not only your personal writing style, but to try to relate your narrative with that of the community.

Skip over the childhood sex experiences completely... not so much because our host is against underage sex, but because it's too easy. It's the root of all our kinks, and roots are hidden. You can't see them so your narrative tends to descend into pure revelry, too easy.

Almost everyone whose sexuality falls outside of bland 'normative' has a treasury of childhood sexual angst in their closet. Just don't go there. Start at age 18 when you were a legal rational adult and justify what you did from there. It's a good exercise in restraint. Recall that all great writing has always been performed under cultural constraints. Censors and limits - like the frame of a canvas - are paradoxically necessary for any creative endeavour.

And finally, don't worry too much about telling us the whole truth and nothing but the truth, because you can't and even if you could it would be boring. Sculpt your reality to fit the genre. I don''t mean lie or make up shit, but try to remain true to your home truths within the confines of what is really a very limited medium. Don't think for a minute words are anything but abstract symbols.

What we fucking want here is some irreverent hot art that reflects, like a warped imperfect mirror, some kind of reality we can enter into and explore and be amazed and aroused by.

Have fun! :)

Nothing remotely sexual, including by innuendo, should happen in any story on this site before the characters are 18 years old. Even describing characters in a way that could make them appear to be under 18 is not recommended. It is basic rule of this site, designed to protect it against fanatics who would like to destroy all erotica.

On their 18th birthday they can turn into highly skilled sexual athletes, but not a day earlier.

There could be a problem with writing about your own experiences, particularly if other people could identify themselves.

I would recommend writing as 'fiction' with names and locations changed to protect the guilty - including you. :D

Ahhh I didn't realize they were going to be published stores on Lit. I was assuming you were going to start a thread, sort of blog-like. To have interactive feedback about your experiences. My mistake.

I agree, spin the bottle would be sexual. You'll just have to write like your sexual awakening didn't happen til your 18th birthday.

Depends how you handle it.

AFAICT, a brief factual mention (e.g. establishing background) is usually OK, as long as it's not trying to make the scene sexy. For instance, one of my characters mentions that her grandma had The Talk with her at fourteen and that her father was born when Grandma was only sixteen - "she was quite an adventurous young lady before she miscalculated and had to marry Grandpa". No objections from the mods.

But if you're describing the scene in detail, that is unlikely to fly.

Its all in the details.

Thanks Bramblethorn, I do understand a little better. Casual mention probably flies, a detailed explanation probably gets shot down.

Thanks to everyone that chipped in. Now on to actually writing something LOL Pastdue
