Stories copied without permission?

I've noticed that a number of my stories have shown up on some other websites but they were copied without my permission. In most cases my name is on them. In some cases it is not, though no one else claims my work as their own.

I suppose that is a risk of putting a story up on the Internet. Where my name is listed, I will just chalk that up to free publicity, and I suppose as a compliment that someone thought the story was worth having on their site.

Just the same, they could have asked for permission. Is this a common thing?

So common that there was another thread on it only yesterday. You're more sanguine than that author was. It's a good attitude. But you can ask to get the story taken down if you're not properly credited, and the site owners will often do so.

Your stuff must be good if it's being ripped off so much! Well done.

Yeah, it's pretty common and has happened to many authors here. If they're leaving your name on it, you're luckier than most.

I had to go to mid Wales and teach a couple of weeks ago. LOL. As I left the house I thought about wearing my wellies but I thought they'd look silly cuz they're pink with ribbons. How silly did I feel when I got off the train and found I was walking through six inches of snow in kitten heeled slingbacks!
