Y'know, I think this thread is actually an isolated blurt. It's not a genuine question, hoohoo isn't looking for answers, he (she?) just wants to kick the universe back in the goolies. We should all stop making sensible suggestions in here and make SPAM fritters instead.

I think someone who calls their readers psychopaths, crazies and a cemetery of dead people should be grateful for any votes at all!

This doesn't necessarily follow. One small step doesn't always result in a giant leap. If one doesn't generalise to some extent nothing will be said. I read fantastic stuff here and it is unacknowledged. I think that is disappointing when I know a lot of work has gone into presenting it. In terms of dollars and cents this site is free. In terms of effort it is not. There are those who manage the site and those who submit their work to it with many others in between. It would be wonderful if there was some acknowledgement. With out that it's like posting in the dark.

Not many readers, I venture, bother to read an author's profile.
I'm actually surprised how many do! I've had at least 50% email feedback related to my profile when I had something worth responding to on there, once upon a time.

(BTW, does anybody know whether each page load counts as a separate 'view'?)
I've heard that it does but don't know for sure.

There is some acknowledgement. You just want more, and as PL said, there's no obligation on the part of readers to give it to you, nor any guarantee on the part of site owners to make sure readers do.

Perhaps you should start posting on either the Story Feedback forum or for profit on other websites.

Indifference is the norm.

I think this is unfair to the Literotica readership. This is a reading site, not a critique site. There is nothing in the Web site's welcome to readers that requires them or even pushes them to respond to a story. I dare say most erotica story readers come here for a jolt of arousal. They come here to stroke themselves, not the authors--and the Web site is set up to make them comfortable doing that. If you expect developmental help, you need to ask for a critique in Story Feedback. If you expect a lot of votes and comments on Literotica, you are submitting the stories to the wrong kind of site--it's not set up to pull votes or comments out of the readers. You are expecting something from the readers that wasn't set up in what they needed to do to read here.

I take my reader-response kick out of the viewer numbers (even though not knowing for sure what that represents). I get the impression I'm getting a whole lot more readers of what I write here than any place else I can find readers.
