The only US wine I've tried was a White Zinfidel. And I enjoyed it immensly. Have heard that your Chardonnays are quite heavy tho. Not many Aussies like them.

I don't care for the Cali chards either. They're finally introducing unoaked chards that are a delight.
I'm still a snob for the French stuff.

Love the Moscato and a Lambrusco or Valpolicello is about as heavy a red as I enjoy. I lived in Southern Italy for a little while and still prefer the Italian wines. There is a Lambrusco Blanco that is quite similar to the White Zinfandel - fruity and crisp. Our favorite vineyard is a little local one that specializes in Italian grapes and Italian style wines, although he prefers heavier, dryer reds than I do...."

On the note of wine snobbery ... I'm quite fond of the white Zinfandel, myself. Haven't tried many other wines, though some of my gay friends in Kansas City are snobs for the reds.

Like the other day I tried some 30yr old Jameson Irish. Or the time i had the 25yr old Chivas Regal. Or the 30yr old Appleton Estate - oh hang on thats a Rum (Still Yummy though).
