My wife in front of the camera.

This photo is for SailorJerry. He gave us the challenge of reproducing a beautiful photo he liked. We found the right glass, then played with poses and lighting set ups. There were many challenges, the biggest being paying attention to the camera when the model looks this good. ;)

It was fun, and we will be revisiting this shot to try some other ideas and set ups.

Here is one of the photos we both liked.

Thanks. I'd still like to work the lighting a bit, and I want to have another subject in the foreground. But we were happy with what we got.

We do keep many photos to ourselves ;)

that is an awesome picture. I'm just a simpleton when it comes to photography but I imagine the glass shot took a bit to get right. but you did start out with a perfect model so that part was easy......

and then at the same time trying to concentrate on the photo when there is such a sexy lady right there....

Thanks for your efforts, I appreciate them!!!!

WOW!!!! Amazing job, you guys!! Kudos!

I can just imagine how pleased you are with that shot! It must have been a real puzzle to figure out, but a fun one no less.

I'd love to hear about what you learned about in making this work!

I love the new shot. Very artistic and still very sexy. That outfit is awesome.

Thanks everyone.

I am proud of how this photo turned out, so your compliments are very welcome. :D

What did I learn from this shot?

Lighting is everything, and Tomboy has great taste in outfits.

I don't have enough props in the house for such classy photos, I had to go buy that glass and I couldn't find any stands that I liked for the glass.

There are way too many reflective surfaces in the average living room, lol.
We had to cover up anything that would reflect light back into the glass. I still missed one, if you look at the photo carefully you can see a small reflection.

The only way to light the foreground would be from a diffused indirect source. Every light source we tried showed up in the glass. The strobe, lighting Tomboy, was ahead of, and shielded from the glass. I think a light source directly above the glass may work, or a much larger studio. This is something I will play with further. I wanted to have another subject, me, in the foreground to add to the scene.

I also realized how much I miss my low light 50mm lens. It recently broke, and it would have given me a bit more room to play with the depth of field.

Sorry for the long semi techie post

Thanks, ADVR!

I encountered many of the same problems, but wasn't able to compensate with my equipment. Gives you a greater appreciation for some of the photos out there, eh?

Yes it does! I am at best, an amateur. But I am lucky enough to have a few friends that are published pro photographers. Watching them work is amazing, the vision and attention to detail is always inspiring. Tomboy worked in the photo industry and taught me a lot on how to compose shots.

Wow. That is an amazing shot. Well executed…..to say nothing of the gorgeous subject!

It is easy to make photos look good when she is in them ;)

Thanks.
We had a good laugh at the comment about hot and sweaty. After this photo shoot, we were hot and sweaty, but just needed to sleep, lol.
I would be happy to explain the shot in detail in a PM if anyone wants.

Our goal for last night was to get the glass photo that we already posted. But to get warmed up, I asked Tomboy to do a strip tease for me. Here are the photos from that. We hope you enjoy. ;)
