Rob's going to have either a lot of math to do this year, or almost none. Everyone's gotten wiser...and thus are picking roughly the same folks.

And the few seemingly oddball picks are on Dead Pool lists elsewhere.

Better late than never.

Better late than never.

Here is my primary entry which I will call "Grey-Power", for obvious reasons.

Joan Fontaine (Still battling her sister to see which lives longer)

Olivia de Havilland (I figure once one goes the other won't be too far behind)

Zsa Zsa Gabor (She may just hang on for another year or two, but I can't be left out)

Beverly Cleary (lots of women I know, but '13 will not be a kind year)

Kirk Douglas (It will be sad to see an icon go, but no one lives forever)

Eli Wallach (Another unenvious pick, but he lived a good long life)

Richard Attenborough (Another class act)

Billy Graham (No love lost here)

Christopher Lee (The Count)

Glen Campbell (The "Rhinestone Cowboy")

BP George Michael ("Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go")

With a total exceeding 973 years on this planet, something has got to give.

______________________________________________________________

As an experiment for future lists I am going to include a "Freedom Fifty-Nine" list as well, where all picks will be less than 59 years of age at the end of 2013, if they make it. Scoring could be double (or 1.5 times) the points as above in order of picks 1 thru 10, or simply 6 or 7 points for each correct call. (We'll see how it works out and if the scoring is comparable.) Feel free to pick a similiar list yourself, and if you do not like the idea....well then you can GoFuckYourself!

My "Freedom 59" list:

George Michael (Singer, see above)
Michael J. Fox
Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia)
Kathleen Turner
Seka (Yes the porn star)
Courtney Love
Rowan Atkinson
Sean Penn
Angelina Jolie
Lewis Hamilton

Hugo Chavez is under sixty? [looks in wikipedia]...

I'll be damned, I thought he was older than that. I might have picked him too, had I'd known.

Sorry, LillyO; my mistake.

Zsa Zsa and GHWB are going to be bracket-busters if they make it through the year.

cool thread..this is a lot like the death list site.

The very first Dead Pool we ran in 2008 was a parody of the death list site...we had a lot of chest-thumpers here who "knew" who was going to die in the upcoming year....but over the years we've morphed into a junior version of the big Dead Pool site, with tits. (Hey, this IS the General Board... ;) )

I figured a lot of people would forget about him. I was torn re: picking him on page 1 for one simple reason: I knew that, once I did, other people would, too. Pretty much negates the bonus - but it does make things more interesting.

Speaking of negated bonuses:

Over 60.

Over 60.

How many picks are we allowed WITH Bonus?

Is it 10 or 11? I think it is 11.

If 11, I had Chavez and Hillary Clinton. Are either unacceptable? My bonus pick (if one read further in the thread) was Ed Norton.

If 10, I should be allowed to keep Chavez if he is, in fact, under 60 AND Hillary. Ed Norton can be dumped.

In fact, if 11 I should be allowed to keep Chavez (as my bonus/under 60), Hillary AND dump Ed Norton with the replacement being Don Shula. That is what I would like to do.

CaptainKirk, please clarify. Thanks.

Here is what happened:

CaptainKirk advised that I could not have Shula as my bonus pick because he was over 60.

He did not know (nor did I ) that Chavez was under 60.

Consequently, Chavez should be allowed as my bonus pick with Shula being placed in the list of 10.

This assumes we are allowed 11 picks inclusive of bonus.

According to Rob, you are allowed ten picks for your Dead Pool list and one pick for your bonus list, a total of eleven. You are correct.

This would be acceptable to me and I'm sure most everyone else, but it is up to Rob; it is his thread/game, after all.

If I've lead you down the garden path, I apologize.

Okay, I've coded up a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, entered everyone's picks (above), created an alive/dead vlookup table, standardized the spelling of names (a problem in previous years), and created a macro so all I have to do is put a death date next to a stiff above and it will automatically update EVERYONE who had that pick.

Yeah, I was bored today. Could you tell?
