Ah, well, if life's road had no speed bumps, no curves, no hills or valleys, how boring it would be!
And besides... I had a good Christmas, got something I've been wanting to get for quite a little while now (no, not the chocolate tools!), so what the hell. Into each life, a little rain must fall... but without the rain, where would the flowers be?[/COLOR]

Yeah, it's kind of gotten my attention... but I'm not going to let it run - or ruin - my life. Thank you.Well, Sir W, that will get your attention, won't it? I wish you well in this continuing adventure.
Thank you. Preliminary approval has been granted - but not at my "local" (185 miles away) facility where I got all the MRIs and stuff. Nooooo... VA wants to send me 350 miles to the Omaha VA hospital (the nearest VA facility with neurosurgery facilities) where one of their U-Neb medical professors can do the procedure for an audience of four med students, two interns and a neurosurgery resident. Or some such set of figures. Apparently Omaha is the VA's prime center for neurosurgery in a 500 or so mile radius. Or only. At least they're not sending me to Minneapolis (500 miles away). Now it's just a matter of them dotting t's and crossing i's and setting a date. They did promise they'd *try* to get it set for a Friday or a Monday so YK can go with me and miss a minimum of work.Oh, that's rough, Sir W... I'm continuing to send good thoughts, prayers, white light and good intentions/vibrations your way. The only thing worse than needing a biopsy is needing to jump through hoops to get it over with.
Thanks, darlin'. And I'm still chuckling at my thoughts on first reading: "bless [his] heart..."Bless your heart, Sir W. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I get all the backwash from all those antennae. Now you have to point your antennae at yourself, SW.
GIANT hugs. Please keep us apprised.![]()
For the hugs, I referred to my saved pics files
Thank you, Netz. It means a lot, believe me.Uncool.
Big hugs and best wishes.
Thank you, G*S, but the coolness all stems from the (semi-)anonymity of the Interwebz and was inspired by Brad Paisley in 2007. It has absolutely *nothing* to do with "growing up," because I steadfastly refuse ever to do that.Sir W, your candor and laissez-faire astonish me! I sincerely hope that I am one tenth the cool person that you are, when I grow up! Yuk yuk!
As always, my prayers, good thoughts, and positive blessings continually go out to you and yours.
P.S.
What was the gift? Inquiring minds want to know!![]()
Thank you, UMB. I do appreciate all of y'all's thoughts, prayers, vibes, lights, and hugs, probably more than a sadist should admit.Positive thoughts and hugs and all to SW
Thank you, too, BBE. I also hope those things!Good luck, Sir_Dub. I hope they don't find anything untreatable and that you have the most minimal of complications and consequences from all standpoints.
Blurt: fuck I love/hate alcohol sometimes.
Thanks, darlin'. And I'm still chuckling at my thoughts on first reading: "bless [his] heart..."![]()

*Totally unrelated to Lit*
I think it's disgusting how people--most of them Southern evangelicals--can cast aspersions on other people's faith based on those people's political beliefs.
I like how I can believe in the Divine, study religion, and try to behave in a Christ-like manner (and fail miserably most of the time, but that's beside the point), yet still hear that it's not "real" because I'm a bloody pinko socialist.
Fuck. Off.
Because a religious cake has its culture baked in. That's why there is no one "Jesus," but as many Jesus incarnations as societies that have worshipped him.
Curiously, Jesus always seems to find a way to be in sync with the priorities of the prevailing culture.
It's snowing here, goddammit.![]()
seriously?I presume it's not sticking, at least...
Nah. Every 2-3 years, we get snow that sticks, but it's usually gone in a day or two. It's just flurries today, anyhow. I just hate that it's cold enough to snow in the first place, LOL.
