I forgot how disgusting and insensitive some on the GB can be.
Well, when you get people choosing names like "HotCockMan" and "CumShooter" etc. (names I have made up because I am too lazy to go find the actual names), one can only assume that they have no actual understanding of sex in the first place.
Maybe he has a condition that makes his cock hotter than normal, and he's just looking for some support for sufferers of the same affliction.
WHY ARE COMMENTS TURNED OFF? This talk comes from a woman who was targeted by an online hate campaign. Predictably, the same campaign has targeted this talk, so comments have been shut down. If you'd like to comment constructively on this video, please share on your own social networks
Don't say that. you'll be next.
Watch the video. Its a horror story.
The ongoing dispute about sexism in the secular community has been settled at last by one incredibly insightful post.
Atheism is a ‘guy thing,’ I would say, like needlepoint is a ‘girl thing.’
We don’t have to consider why the sexes fall (or are pushed) into these particular roles; they just are. And with that simple argument, we’re done. By golly, we ought to make the guy who said it some kind of leader of the atheist movement. We wouldn’t want to have him wasting his time on things like needlepoint, you know.
Hence Elevatorgate, hence A+
I know babyboi, it can be a fucking horror out there.
hugs
Hence Elevatorgate, hence A+
Indeed.
Those people are a cancer.
Not the A+ people, obviously.
Can I come? I'll bring my bat![]()
(also, I wanna say that when i refer to 'Elevatorgate', I'm talking strictly about the event, her initial response, and the outpouring of misogyny immediately following...I am NOT talking about all the shit that followed because I simply don't know enough about it, and I'm not sure I care)
And PZ's perspective is, well, his perspective. What little I've read makes it sound like there was an honest conflict, which means you have to read a LOT of different people and stories to try and figure out what happened and which side (if either) you come down on.
Well, the later part really is
"Something"
"Disagree"
"Yeah well, I'm calling you out"
"NOT COOL!"
"I don't like that"
"Tough. DOn't listen."
etc.
It became an internal, social issue.
HOWEVER, the fact that her complaint turned into a thing at all is pathetic.
She didn't ask for the guy to be punished, kicked out of the conference, reveal his name, or anything at all.
She said 'Hey, this behavior is likely to make women uncomfortable. You might want to not do that.'
It amazes me that there are guys out there who think that the only way to hit on a woman is to completely violate her personal space (physical and psychological). I have been hit on by guys a number of times, and many of them do so politely, respectfully, and in a sexy way (not for me, mind you...).
If you think that not being able to harass a woman will keep you from getting laid, maybe you need to rethink your strategy
I assume you've read about the whole "OMG THERE ARE GIRLS AT THE CON AND I DON'T THINK THEY ARE REAL GEEKS" outrage?
Because they're a man, and thus entitled to it. And any woman that rejects them is either a lesbian (obviously used derisively in their minds, unless said lesbian is letting said guy watch them when another lesbian, in which case it instantly becomes okay!), or a stuck-up bitch. Because who could possibly not want to fuck them? It's incomprehensible!
More than a few times I've had to play fake boyfriend to friends of mine when out, because it's just easier for them to be on my arm than it is to fend off people who apparently forgot to evolve past apes.
And yet, never once have I needed one of my friends to act like they're with me. Crazy.
