Absolutely. You know what, I saw a bumper sticker of "keep Christ in Christmas" and I was like...you know what. I completely agree.

Take your pagan trees, your gifts, your candies....whatever you want....give baby Jeez a HUGE birthday party every year and LEAVE EVERYONE ELSE ALONE. You'll be happy, the rest of us will be happy, WAR OVER.

But the endless whining goes on because some of us have the huevos to mention that we do not care to participate when it's being shoved in our faces 24/7 that "everyone does." No "everyone" does not. If people are so worried that "religious christmas" is under attack why is the expression the continued shock and horror that commercial Christmas tzochkes are being deemed inappropriate from public buildings or that things need to be inclusive in public space?

It's psycho enough that my 90 percent Jewish grade school sang all the carols and had Santa and everything. WTH?

WTH...yeah, that's a good question. That's some crazy-making going on there.

In the Latin American countries I have lived in/visited, which are massively Catholic, you would barely know the holiday existed. Everyone goes to church on the day and there are a few shoddy decorations here and there but overall it's very much just another one of many church holidays.

Same thing when I was on The Rock, which was crazy religious. They got way more excited about Anzac Day than Xmas.

In these other places, the believers celebrate amongst themselves, us nons all enjoy a day off, win-win.

The "war" thing baffles me.
 
You can mark me down as anti-PETA too.

The worst thing for me, as an animal lover and firm believer in animal rights, is that PETA turns people off 'the cause'. There are so many worthwhile animal organizations out there, doing good work, but PETA gets all the press. :mad:
 
I'm an anti-PETA person as well. Not least of all because their shelters actually kill pets. I know, the Humane Associations do too, but um... not the same way, and not with the same feeling of hypocritical smugness that comes off PETA in waves.
 
Every so often, I get in the mood to play in the Word Association thread. I've been in that mood lately.


HOWEVER... there are a few (two or three or four) participants there whose offerings frequently make me stop, lean back in my chair and say, "What the fuck???"
