Unemployment back up to 7.9%

Because almost 600,000 new workers entered the workforce.

The number of people working part-time for economic reasons also dropped by -269,000. Also there were -154,000 fewer discouraged workers from a year earlier. Government workers shrunk; the private sector added +185k jobs for the month but shrinking government meant a +171,000 net.

And there were HUGELY positive revisions for previous months:

The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for August was revised from +142,000 to +192,000, and the change for September was revised from +114,000 to +148,000.

Go ahead Vette spin it baby, spin it!!!!

+171,000 jobs, way better than analysts' prediction of 125k. The U3 rose (less than) 0.1% to 7.9, because...

Vette will rejoice at the awesomeness of these details. +578,000 new workers entering the workforce? This is exactly what Vette sees as a fantastic monthly report.

171K new jobs....the Vettebigot's last-ditch economic "Hail Mary" pass falls short.

And your U-6 dropped .1% for the month. You've spent the past year moaning about how the U-6 is the real unemployment indicator you use but the instant it improves you jump ship back to the U-3.

Doesn't that make you kind of a fraud? :)

Notice how easily his Marine Corps Honor™ allows him to avoid taking personal responsibility for any of his previous statements.

The Literotica Marine Creed:
I never said that...
I never posted that...
I was merely passing it along....
Semper Fuckup!

The wild ass toadyism reeks when you post. It takes 250,000 a month to affect the unemployment rate, clown. Those new jobs, are they full time, are they seasonal part time jobs that will go away in two months? I think we know.

Did the U6 move?????

Yes the BLS numbers are seasonally adjusted. If you want, we can look at the unadjusted U-6 number which dropped -.03% in the month but I really don't think you want to do that.

Workers working part-time for economic reasons dropped -269,000 so you'll need to find some different spin. Your spin so far has been a huge flop.

Vetty's sweating this morning. He's having trouble finding the right sort of spin.

The unemployment rate for people with college degrees plummeted -.4% to 3.8%. That means college-educated people are essentially at full employment now.

Spin it Vette, spin it!

It went down because the government cut 13,000 jobs, they are a dead liability on the economy anyway.

LMAO! Wait, you're saying that the government CUT 13K jobs and that caused the unemployment numbers to go down?

Jesus Fucking Christ....

Wait. You think 13k jobs can move the needle on the U-6?

Not to mention that if it did, it would have made unemployment WORSE, since 13K people were now out of a job.

The civilian labor force participation rate increased .6% to it's highest leven in couple years. But the Romney spin will be "PLEASE don't look at the details, they don't matter!"

But when the unemployment rate drops their spin is "PLEASE look at the details because they matter!"

Consistently Flip-floppity.
I said a flip, flop, the flippie - the flippie
To the flip flip-flop, and you don't stop
The rock it to the bang-bang, boogie say "up jump"
The boogie to the rhythm of the boogie: the beat

Now, what you hear is not desp-ar-rate -- I'hm spinning all mah foes
And me, the Chief, and ma friends are gonna try to move them goals
See I am Vetteman and I'd like to say "hell no"
To the black, non-white, the red and the brown, the Ay-rabs and yellow

Still higher than when Obama took office.

So your spin is that it doesn't matter that Obama walked into an economy where we were losing over -600,000 jobs per month? Obama should be held accountable for the recession?

The economy has to produce 349,000 jobs a month for three years straight to get the rate down to 6%.

Not true.
