how do you resist the urge to feed them in winter?

I'd be such a sucker, i can hear me now, "aww honey just a few bales of hay? It's cold as hell out there"

Well, they always come and devour my Halloween pumpkin. It's like candy to them. I always have to remember that they need tons more plant life, like they get in summer, to survive. In winter, they feed on higher nutritional 'browse'. So if fed greens and hay with low nutritional value in the winter, they can starve with a full stomach.

I don't know what you're feeding them Thor, but mine NEVER eat my flowers. Just my pumpkins. And I don't mind that because they have to go up the deck steps to get them and they peek in the window and I get awesome pictures!

They eat my rose bushes! And the apple tree. Even the larch.

Brown bear sighting reported in area of search for wounded bruin

"Update: Anchorage police report a brown bear was seen early Thursday morning in the area of Rabbit Creek Road and Clarks Road, just north of Bear Valley Elementary, and just to the northeast in the area of 140th Avenue and Rabbit Creek."

All because of some dumbass's chickens!

Fish and game were planning on shooting it anyway because of some other dumbass's garbage.

that would be my type of place to go skating....tough to find here because we generally get snow along with the cold

Ladies skate!

A few years back I lived on a lake and kept an area cleared of snow and a little water every now and then. WHAT A CHORE!!!

hell of a spot to hit with the sled...carbide skis and track studs would bite nice but no snow to lubricate the runners

a few peeps here have lake houses they keep as rinks too

nice for the swamps to freeze up before the snow, then overflow isn't a huge issue early in the season.

It was very hard to keep it up by hand though. Of course my triple salchow improved in those early years!
