Among other things, I so need to get outta town and go camp. And I believe that is what I shall do.

Who wants s'mores?

Pardon my while I press my knees together and wince. A lot.

I would offer wieners on a stick, but that seems perilously close to Stella's project.

Totally jealous! About the getting out of town part and the nature sleeping! There ain't nothin' like good ol campy s'mores. Hope you enjoy!

Everyone look at Dianthus' new profile pic - total hot genie-ness! :)

Also, this will embarrass her!!

Wow! Love it! Nothing embarrassing about a stunning picture like that, Di! :rose:

Thanks. My favorite part, more than food, is sitting, late at night, under the stars, listening to the pop of the fire.

No camping for moi. Currently 34º (F) on its way to 25º. I don't sleep well with frostbitten toes.

Yes. ER rooms are no place to divine the pleasure of the wild. I have camped in 8-degree weather, and it was not fun. I slept curled up in the fire.

But this should be classically autumnal and juuuuuuust right.

So jealous! We haven't been camping this year, not once. .

Back home we'd have sucked it up and gone in the next weekend or two, frozen ourselves silly and had a blast. But where we've relocated to we don't dare try that. Weather is calling for snow today, not tonight, toDAY. (Not in our immediate region, but in the area code and that's plenty close enough).

Yeah, about 40 years ago (when I was young and dumber than I am now), I more than once *did* go camping in temps like this, several times in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge (SW Oklahoma). On one occasion, we built a campfire on a large piece of granite (~ 25' in diameter) that had a dip in the middle - perfect place for the fire - and slept surrounding the fire.

When I woke up around 2-3 a.m. and saw an approximately 1,200 pound American bison standing in a gap in our circle around the fire, and then saw him turn around to warm up the *other* side, I decided that camping in the kind of weather that made buffalo seek out a campfire to get warm was not really quite my cup o' tea.

Reading this reminds me why I have decided to re-define camping. It's staying in a motel that provides cheap coffee in the room and no chocolates on the pillow at night.

With your permission, this is so going in the "I have a friend who" story file!

I love bison! When I grow up I'm gonna be a bison rancher. :nods:

Running home through a rain storm was actually surprisingly nice but I think I'll stay here under my blanket, thank you.

You forgot "whilst drinking". :D

Yippeeee! Count me in, guys! I think that when I grow up, (read: and have no resposibilities except for myself) I'm going to build a treehouse somewhere on the side of a mountain, and just

Ohh ohh, ME TOO?! Please?! Wait, do we have to grow up as part of the deal? I would rather grow down into a more hedonistic version of life if its all the same to you. One that requires less shoes and has more time. *sigh*

Come on down!

There's nothing like sleeping in tree in a hammock high above the forest floor. When the sun goes down and the wind picks up and rocks the tree...almost as good as the s'mores.

Sweeeeeet! *wiggly toed low five* :D

As a side... Please be careful with all that twangy darlin' talk... I'm already trying to temper a lil gypsy crush and you are making my knees wobbly

That sounds lovely too as long as it is without shoes...

I'm down for this. Screw actual camping. I grew up in the middle of nowhere and left for a freaking reason.

I like the best of both worlds

Plushy hote.s and grass roots camping.

Funnily enough, I don't see much appeal in caravans or motor home type contraptions.

Who would have known that olive oil and cabbage can get people so riled up.

How riled up are we talking about? Did you mix the two together and serve it? I know what would happen if I served that up in my house and it sure would not smell good.... we'd have to temporarily evacuate

You made me hurt laughing...

Thanks, needed a good belly laugh

Ha, no. :D

Someone else did, though. A popular food blogger made cabbage casserole and added carrots and some herbs to it that aren't traditionally used there, and used maple syrup instead of golden syrup. People in the comment section are going crazy. "No wonder you're single" was uttered.

And she used olive oil, too, which is clearly a sign of being a hipster douchebag, because OLIVES DON'T EVEN GROW HERE AND IT'S SO MUCH CHEAPER TO USE CANOLA OIL!

Oh, and she used 300g of minced beef - here you can get mince pre-packaged in 250g and 400g portions. Naturally someone got their panties twisted because of this, because would have been so much kinder towards the readers to write a recipe for either (the pre-packaged) 250g or 400g.

Ah, people. :)

Who wants s'mores?

Not me. As odd as it might sound for someone with my sweet tooth to say this, but I'd rather not eat than have s'mores. I was a girl scout for ten years, if I never see another s'more it'll be too soon.

So, in continuation of full moon month:

My mom's work fired her three days after she buried her mom. They said it was her phone manner, which is bullshit. I think they fired her cause she missed so much work while grandma was dying and for her funeral and stuff. Assholes. My sisters best friend was electrocuted and has burns over 3/4 of his body. He's in the burn unit and will probably be there for the next 8 to 12 months - if he survives (outlook is good, he's responding well to treatment). My father in law had a minor stroke three days ago. And one of my heart kids has moved in with me for the foreseeable future (the one who's mom got MRSA) because his dad lost his job which means his dad can't afford his pot which means his dad is being abusive and it will only get worse the longer he goes drugless. This means I now have 8 people in a 3 bedroom, 900 sq ft house. I don't mind T being here, in fact I prefer him here where I know he's safe, but things are getting a bit crowded!

Either way - if you're praying for patience for me, PLEASE STOP!!! Otherwise, keep praying/thinking good thoughts for me, please. Thank you.

you know gracie, my mom used to say, "god only gives us what we can handle" and I'd look at her all doe eyed and say, "I really wish he didn't trust me so much"

*huggles* try to take care of you too dear.
