I use that one too. Less buggy than most I've tried, though you still need to watch that all of the video gets through.

iRinger can convert nearly everything (including youtube videos) to mp3, and it's free. The nice thing is that it can also output iPhone ringtones, and you can clip the track or add sound effects too.

Hi I thought MP3 was sound only files - if you want video do you not want MP4?

I use SUPER www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html - its free and I've found it converts all sorts of video files to all sorts of other formats.

I strongly recommend DVDvideosoft's "YouTube to MP3 Converter". Will allow you to convert to a variety of different formats and different quality settings for MP3.

I suggest to different tools. First is a program called freecorder. You can record anything you are hearing on your computer simply by clicking the record button in the toolbar. It will also automatically save almost any video you play. It will record youtube as it has a youtube button.

The next is called YoutubeDownloader. You can video to all kinds of formats and then convert to music file types.

I have tried almost all the tools listed here and Freecorder is easily the best.

I was just told today by a tech guy that you have to watch some of the online conversion sites, as they will infect your computer. Just a heads up; if it doesn't seem legit, it may be a vehicle for malware.

This is the one I use too. As long as you remember to choose the high quality version, you shouldn't have any problems with it. It's full of ads, though, so I recommend using a blocker. It'll tell you to turn the blocker off but the site will still work anyway

People like to get (steal?) free low quality music files this way. If you're going to do that sort of thing you might as well use something that will get you decent quality files!

I have stripped audio from YouTube when I've not been able to find any other source though.

If you are using an android based operating system ie. Samsung galaxy or tab there is a great little app called tube mate (www.tubemate.net)

The app allows you to download clips from youtube as a standard mp4 ( full 1080p as well) or just download the sound file from the clip as an mp3.

Pretty quick to boot and both transferable to a PC afterwards if you needed to.

Make sure you go to the main site to get the app, there are a few out there that are just nasty little viruses.
