WQ, That is the best shape Jag style of the lot & nice to know it's got a small motor in it too. LOL

Would you believe, I have never driven with a Hurst. I'm a little concerned, as it seems a bit twitchy. I'll have a go down by the waterfront tomorrow where there's not much traffic and see how I go.
You might have noticed there are no bumpers - they are in getting polished.

Here is a pic of the jag he bought. 1976, with a 357 Chev and a Hurst shifter. Goes like a bullet!

Ok... I have to ask because I'm insanely curious about random pieces of information. What is a Hurst shifter (obviously, it's a gearbox), and why is it special?

I wish the weather in Perth would make its mind up. It's blowy and overcast, but I'm not convinced it's going to rain at all.

A Hurst shifter is the gearstick you use to change gears in the gearbox.
It has the odd thing that instead of pressing a button to change, you have to push down on the gear knob in order to change from drive to reverse or park (it's an automatic shifter).
This one seems a bit touchy - sometimes it takes 2 or 3 goes to change. It should be a bit lighter on the touch, but I had immense issues with it during my practice today. I actually held up traffic for a while
I kinda wish it would rain here... then at least there'd be a reason for all this humidity!
I'm leaving the YWCA lodge tomorrow, and moving onto the boat with my man for the next few days :)
No doubt I will end up working.... cleaning and sorting paperwork etc

Ok! I've seen one of those before! Never driven one though.

And it rained. Heavily. I had both boys ring me from school and try to bludge a lift home. Good luck with that, boys!

Well, I'm on the Bella Isha. It's an ex-fishing boat that has been refurbished to be a work boat (crew transfers, etc).
It's not putrid, but does need a little cleanup. The guys didn't leave it a total mess from their last trip.
The good thing is, the biggest bunk is nice and compact... meaning I have to sleep really close to my man ;)

Got my internet back!!

Got flattened by the end of winter lurgy, went to the coast to get some salt air and warmth. Went to Eden. What a pretty spot.

Daughter turned 18. Where did those years go?

WQ, I hope you're havin a ball in your Jag. Or on board ship, whichever your in. I hope your daughter and granddaughter are continuing to thrive and no1 son is recovering nicely.

Gil and Bandit, has the bloody lurgy finally nicked off? Gil seemed to have it for a very long time. The weather has turned for the better, at least.

Mr Elf, has worked settled down? Or are the hatchet man and women still lurking the corridors?

You're right about the Chrissy stuff in shops already! Holy Cow! Got a Chrissy catalogue last week. It's mulch!!!! Maybe those curbside collections are a jump on the Chrissy shop displays. You know.. ' for the man who has everything, a spare chair leg'. My first room in my first share flat was entirely furnished from the curbside. Some of it was pretty good. I got the bed from one bloke who came out while we were going through his collection. When he spoke to us he went inside and brought this entire bed out. Thought it was too good to sit on the curb.

Was looking at past posts and see you were offering me a reward.... :D.... Couldn't decide between one or the other, soo, decided Gil was right ..... both please kind sir..... ;)

AFL Grand Final Saturday!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Swannies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know Hawkes are faves but the Swannies have a knack of finding some extra. Hope they can on Sat. Best game I've ever been to was Hawkes/Swans as SCG in around 88. Sooo close. You could tell who was ahead by who was standin on their seats. Mixed seating with fans mixed together. No malice at all, just appreciation of a fantastic game. Even afterward there was banter no fighting. Love the game and the fans.

NRL Grand final Sunday. Think I'll back the Storm. Everyone here is wearing Blue and White.

The safety inspector has just turned up on board. Looks like this boat needs a few things... it has been travelling without a full complement of safety equipment. Not good.
There's a few small things that need doing, but for the most part it will be simple cleanup.

Hi trisk :)
All is fine in my world.
No1son is recovered, and has started weight training. He says it's to be healthier, but I happen to know it's because during a recent playfight with his 15 yr old kidlet brother, he got soundly beat!
Daughter and bean are both powering on - daughter has slipped effortlessly into being a mum, and is back at school this week (with baby... the school even bought a portacot for her to use during school hours!)
Nice to hear you've had a mini-break and recovered :rose:

LOL rain or fine weather with the school near my local hospital they take away parking so all the mums in their BMW & 4 wheel drives can pick their little darlings up but they not only block that street up but a major road leading to the hospital entry, we are frightened to get sick around school pick up time (2,30pm till 4pm) as access is impossible plus no on street parking available because the parking area is turned over to the school for pick up, like the hospital isn't important at all !!!! pisses me right off.

Love it down Eden way although been so many years since last down there.

Daughter 18yo? you must have been just out of puberty when you had her.

I got the lurgy in Autumn & it just keeps comming back & I'm loving the warmer weather. I went to Nepean Speedway on sunday where it got to 30C but clagged up when it cooled of that night, morning & night seem to be when it hits the worst at the moment.

Mr Elf, has worked settled down? Or are the hatchet man and women still lurking the corridors? A mate who has worked for one of the big banks has been retrenched with them moving the Tech section to INDIA! closing my account out & going to a building society that is Aussie with everything in Aussie, have this bank & other Aussie companies not worken to the fact that INDIA isn't a secure place to have so much personal & company info.

Sorry no interest at all in ping ping game

Mixed feeling on this game as would love to see Des Hasler prove Manly were fools to get rid of a 2 time grand final winning coach, his ability to bring out the best in his players to take the hounds to the finals in his first year when they always failed when the pressure was on in the past & the Storm because the players are still copping it because the management owned by Murdoch who thinks he can do as he please with everything he has like his grossly over priced pay TV & media out lets, he has way to many getting axed for his corrupt doings.

I am on a Secret Squirrel mission
Actually loving Darwin tonight!

So, I got spirited out to another boat last night, and on board the boys all made me an awesome dinner of vietnamese fish bites with potato slivers and a sesame salad :D
I toured the boat and barge (the barge had WW2 relics that had been lifted from the harbour floor - including the wing and engine of a shot down Zero fighter!) before being secretly returned to the jetty. I had to walk a ways to get back to the Bella Isha, but the temp at midnight was lovely.
And get this.... because it was all covert, the boys back in the duck pond (where the boats lay over) were worried when I hadn't come back by about 11pm - they all thought I was going to dinner at the yacht club - and rang the man to get my phone number to check up on me and make sure I was ok :) very sweet!

I've woken up this morning to find that the boys have left me a massive mud crab in a foam cooler for me to cook up for my dinner!

I neeed to move away from the damp cold. Would very seriously consider moving to Eden.

You sweet talker, you! I need to remember that at her age i was thrown into the wilds of Sydney and looking after myself. Although, if i think about it too much, I'll worry that she'll get into some of the pickles I did! She's a bit more streetwise than I was though.

Hopefully some nice warm weather will sort out your lurgy. Time to sunbath topless Gil!!!! ;)

These companies just don't get it. and graft anf corruption is rife in these places. Aussies are too slow to vote with their feet. Biggest mistakes we ever made was to fall for the de-mutualisation of community owned companies - they kept other companies in check. And allowing the govt to sell the Commonwealth bank.

luuuuuurve my Aussie rules. Son is playing next year Can't wait. He's got the build but needs more fitness. And he's goin to be about 6'3''. We've watched him through soccer. union and league. Just one more to try.

Lived on the north shore for quite a few years. Didn't like the Manly club much. Players were great, mostly. I remember a baby Toovey at the time. But the administrators were ars*holes. Self serving, stuck up, self important sycophants. Put me off for life. Mind you I was a one-eyed Tigers fan until the way that club handled some issues.

Everything Mr Murdock touches lately seems to go pie-eyed.

Dinner!
Getting this guy in the pot will be fun - if the get you, they can bite a finger clean off!!!

Yum

We used to tie the nippers back with string. Couldn't boil them alive though. had to euthanize them first.

We lived on seafood when i was a kid. Caught it ourselves. Was pretty good at fishing. Once. Never get to do it these days. :(

Have fun! :)

I used to be the person who had to put them to sleep in the freezer before cooking them.... but then an old Aboriginal elder told me that putting them straight into the pot tenderised and sweetened the flesh.
He was right - they do taste better cooked that way.

Mmmm that is yum but I think your butt is yummier. In fact if Helen of Troy had a face that launched a thousand ships your butt is good enough to launch a million

I hate to boast (but I will anyway!) but that ass shot is a little old.
The new, improved version is much better ;)
