The Construction Thread

It's all about the money.

"China has worked rapidly to build its infrastructure, but some of it has failed. The collapse of the Yangmingtan bridge may be due to official corruption, substandard materials and a one-party government, according to local residents. "Corruption. It is the first thing that pops into our mind," said Zeo Niu, a college junior. "If the central government wants a steel bar, it should be 10 centimeters. When it comes to the province, it will be 8 centimeters, and when it comes to the city, it will be 5 centimeters. This is very, very common. This is not news," Niu added."

I've seen this in action. So true and so wrong.

Bamboo is pretty tough when you tie it together with goat intestines.

I've seen those crazy chinamen at work. They did a hotel right down the street of me with a forklift, picking it up each floor with electric chain falls.

Next weekend's project is to build some folding sawhorses.

I'll post pics when complete so you can all have a laugh.

In the old days, a carpenter's first project on the job was a pair of sawhorses. You can tell a lot about the man by the sawhorses he builds.

haha, I want to make an ironworker version of that chart, with "call for a torch", " 6 ton comealong might do it". "get up on it with the rig" and "call the shop for a portapower" all coming before "measure the piece and check the drawing".

I wonder how many 6-bys you'd have to burn to heat all the steel in a 10 yard bucket full of water to bath temperature. It would take all day, seems to me.

Sounds like you're in this local...or is that standard with ironworkers nowadays:D

I climbed up on a 14 foot concrete box to drill a hole while wearing a dress and steel toes today.

I actually had them on, only because this dress is short. Orange with "Sizzle" on the ass. Hope they enjoyed the show!
