Please stop calling it your vagina...

JK Rowling wrote for children

JRR Tolkein wrote for adults

Both created worlds

Tolkein takes more imagination and higher intellect to "get it"

Neither are nor ever will be taught in American high school English; Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets won't replace MacBeth

Tolkien wrote for children. All three are taught at the high school and college level.

No, he didn't. The Hobbit was
a kid's story, LOTR was for Chris that was serving with the RAF in Africa in the 40's.

Actually, LOTR was originally written as an experiment in language.

Shut up, Cade.

That doesn't jibe with the history of the books.

Neither of you fuckmonkeys will see it, but you're both wrong. Tolkien wrote LOTR at the behest of his publisher following the success of The Hobbit. He sent them to his son, Christopher, in South Africa, but they weren't written for him.

Try again.

Christopher Tolkien joined the RAF in 1945.
LOTR began in 1937 when the publishers wanted a sequel. You're thinking of him sending parts of it to his son while he was in the RAF. It was not meant soley for him at any point.
And yes, I Googled/Wiki'd.

Tolkien wanted to write The Silmarillion. His publishers wanted a Hobbit sequel. He wrote LOTR as "an account of the end before the beginning and middle had been told".

Rule: The biggest dork in the room will always know more about Tolkien than anyone else.
