Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

whimpers

Yeah. Apparently we can't link to thinks now, either.

There are, it seems, two sets of rules, and it's sort of anyone's guess as to which should be followed. I was going by the AmPic rules, but apparently those are wrong? Or something. I have no idea, at this point.

Seriously? With some of the threads on the GB still going strong without any censorship...

throws up hands in frustration

...oh I give up!

As i understand it ....

The threads get left alone unless someone specifically singles them out and complains. We have to few mods to have them actively comb the many threads on a daily basis.

It's more a matter on a single someone complaining.

I did wonder if it's a vendetta of some sort.

I thought perhaps against a specific person but am more thinking that she or he simply doesn't like our lounge very much.

It is so sad ...if the person were really offended by the content they could simply stay out of the thread or place it's owner on ignore....poof no more thread.

EDIT: Did you get a warning Britwitch?

well said Yeishia....

I think you may be right on this...

No, no warning, not that I know of. The thread was there when I logged off last night and gone this morning.

I think that's what I'm most irritated about.

I tried to emphasise the need to follow the rules when I set it up and those that were posting were trying really, really, hard to stick within the rules. A warning should have come first if we weren't.

Much like whats going on these days on Fetlife, the owners of Lit have decided that certain things make them more legally vulnerable than others.
I believe this is mostly a tactic to hide behind, instead of doing the hard, right, thing.

You did and it would have been really easy this time to edit out the ofending posts.

Round 3 perhaps? :D

I think so. I do not usually speak my mind

But...

I think the person responsible is the one who needs the warning from the mods.

( sorry multi quote is not working)

I'm sorry to see the thread is gone, Britwitch. I had made the choice myself to not look at it when some of the images there became too troublesome for my own tastes, but the same is true of Visual Inspiration. And the things that bother me don't necessarily violate the rules, I don't think. It's just me, so it makes sense that I simply avoid them rather than bother anyone else.

Still, it seems to me that the mods go about it the wrong way. Perhaps like Vail said it's the lazy way. Instead of just deleting the whole thread, they should send a PM to the people who actually post the images that violate the rules, and warn them that continued violation by that poster could result in a suspension of their account, rather than deletion of a community thread. It doesn't make sense if it's the same posters continually posting things that break the rules in many threads, to have the threads themselves deleted. It is the person who breaks the rules, not the whole community.

Thats actually not what I meant, Thyri...
By 'the easy way out', they edit the harmless stuff because someone, somewhere, might get an icky feeling in their tummy and point a finger.
But, in the name of free speech, they allow the pure shit and hate that often lives on the GB. Racism, misogyny, trans-hate, gay/lesbian bashing, all of it.
I'm pretty sure I've seen outright threats there (but I can't remember for certain...still, it wouldn't surprise me).

Free speech.

Basically, like yeishia pointed out, too few mods and the ones they do have, can't be expected to babysit all the threads, there's just too many. To suspend a users account won't do a bit of good. They'll just create a new one and start all over again. That's just too easy to do.

I do think they need to look over their rules and and make them all uniform. The rules posted in the Lounge thread was updated as of yesterday by Ravenloft, which, in and of itself, was okay but when SB pointed out to me the rules for the AmPics, I thought it made little sense. They seemed conflicting with the rules posted here in the lounge.

We just need to police ourselves. No links to sexually explicit material. If we find one, send the person a PM and ask them to remove it before we lose our thread again. It's a thankless task, but unless we want to have to keep rebuilding a new thread OR we use the little icon on the right and report to the mods the post. I'd rather just ask someone to remove it and if they don't then ask a mod to do so. Just my opinion. *drops two cents in the jar*
