I've been made fun of more times than I can count for having a west coast "California" accent, and I don't even know wtf that is. I've lived on the east coast for years now, but its supposedly never left me.

So long as I can learn to understand people with the heavier accents, I'll be fine.

I've been told I have a Californian accent as well. *shrugs* I suppose I do since I don't sound like others throughout the country.

I thought all females in California had the valley girl talk.....

:p

I'm originally from the namesake valley of the valley girl, not too long after said era. And if anyone ever told me I sounded like a valley girl, I'd beat their fuckin ass.

Just saying.

:)

I will admit though, California has been super nice to me so far (except for the weather). The people are nice... I get random "Hello"s and "How are you?"s

Where as in NM, if you said that to someone, you'd get punched in the face!!

lol, naaah, but really, you'd get looked at strangely....

Isn't that one of the perks of living in Cali? To enjoy the breeze while the rest of the country roasts? if you really don't like it, head inland. They're projected to hit the 90s in their peak today.... (suddenly so very thankful I live by the beach)

And. I didn't know Californians had an accent. Though, who'm I to talk... I was born in Texas. I have to make an effort to not use "y'all"

Oh hell, I use y'all now and then, slipping in a southern accent just because I like hearing men growl and watch them melt. It doesn't slip out often but between Texas and being in the Carolinas for a few years, I adopted a thing or two. ;)

Yep... 90s so once I'm off work I'm headed to the beach for a bit.
