How can I find how many people have favorited me?

I am wondering if there is a way of finding how many members have made me a favorite author (yes, I know it won't be that many).

I can see a favorite count on individual stories, but can't for the life of me work out how to find how many members (or even, who) have made me a favorite. Is there a way?

I can see from recent activity that a number of people have done it, but in six months time, how will I know how many did?

I see on the member page a "Favorites FAQ" link, but that just links to general FAQ which doesn't seem to mention favorites at all.

It just seems to me that a favorited-count would be a nice indicator of how you are going. A high read count, on a story-by-story basis is (would be) nice, but to know someone liked the story enough to actually favorite you as an author would be encouragement to continue writing.

Right now the only people who can tell how many fav pages they're on are the ones on the top 250 authors list

http://www.literotica.com/stories/favauthorsv2.php

Having away for everyone to see how many favs they're on has been suggested many times, but apparently the site isn't interested in making the attempt.

OK thanks. <quick check>. Nope, not on it. <grin>

I would have thought it would be easy enough. As you get favorited, add 1 to some field on your author's info. If they unfavorite you, subtract 1. It appears they keep the numbers because they display on the page you linked.

Ah well.

Until/unless you appear on the top 250 list, you would have to keep a manual count by taking the numbers before they disappear on your 30-day archive on your submissions page.

(I think it would be a good statistic for the system to put on the author's profile for the benefit of readers looking for an author to try out.)

In case you miss the 'recent activity' posting for how many people have favorited the story, you can also look at the ending of each story. There's a number of how many favorites there are, and also lists them by name.

There have been requests before for more metrics, but there doesn't seem to have been any real response. If you're really interested in keeping these numbers yourself, start a spreadsheet to keep track of this kind of thing, in addition to whatever type of stats you want.

Yes, but the question was about the "favorited author" stats, not the "favorited story" stats.

Keeping track can be a pain as well. Sometimes someone favs then un favs you right away. Other times if you look someone favs you more than once(I don't think they count twice, but who really knows)

Also the 30 day feature rotates so you'd have to remember where you left off etc....

True, that's why the system registering the stat would be a good enhancement for both the author and the readers. (And, incidentally, it's been suggested to the website owners several times without response. Maybe it's already on the list for future enhancements.)

DOH! Sorry y'all. I was thinking about both types and my fingers moved faster than my brain.
Time to step away from the keyboard and get coffee.

<embarrassed>

Ah well.

Let's start a club. We can all check daily. :D

It doesn't list everybody by name. There will be a note saying: This story has been favorited by A and B and 3 other people or however many there are. Some stories are favorited by hundreds of people, and they can hardly list them all.

If you roll our cursor over the "other," I think you'll find they are listed.

You're part right. If you go to those stories that have been favorited by hundreds of people, and do as you say, you will see a list, but not a complete one.

I couldn't speak to that, not having stories that were favorited by hundreds of people. You have an example to cite?

My "top" story is faved by 98 people it shows the entire list.

Can't speak for those that are in the hundreds though.

Editing this to add, I just found a story with 300+ favs and it appears all names are there, well it looks it anyway I was not about to take an exact count.

I'm still interested in the 'author favorite' rather than the 'story favorite'. Although the 'story favorite' is good to know.

Put it like this. A story favorite means you like a story that already exists. An author favorite means you are hoping the author will write another one equally as good, and have a certain amount of confidence that will happen.

I always click on the page of the person who favs me. It's fun to see the same names over and over and flattering to be associated with some of the big names here.

Of course some people have so many favorites it would be a shorter list for who they don;t read.

On the other hand I think there's no bigger compliment than to make the list someone who has been on the site for years, but only has a handful of favorites

You can use Google to give you a rough idea as to who has you listed as a Favorite Author or has listed one of your stories as a Favorite Story. Here is a sample search on who has Favorited me or my story (just change my user name to yours). Clicking on some of the search results show me listed as a Favorite Author, while other links show my story listed as a Favorite Story. A search for sun_sea_sky yields seven results, with four listing the story The Affair as a Favorite Story, one listing The Pool Party and The Girlfriend as Favorite Stories, and two listing sun_sea_sky as a Favorite Author.

Wow, I just looked at your bio. You're doing pretty good for having been on Lit for only a couple of months.
