This is a place to celebrate and discuss what you geek out over, movies, comic books, music, sports, cars...etc...etc. If you are obsessively or extraordinarily passionate about a subject then you are a geek and have a place in this world of geeky things.

Come and join us.

I think I shall get the ball rolling with an easy question:

What are your top ten favorite superheroes/superheroines? It can be obscure ones or world famous ones, you can explain why you like them or if you feel you don't need to don't. It can be all DC or Marvel or Image or whatever or a mix and mash of them or you can either list your top ten of DC and Marvel and/or Image and/or whatever...the choices are yours.

Geeks love making rules and splitting hairs over those rules but I'm going to go against that tendency here. As I said the choices are yours.

I think my definition of "hero" is a little skewed...that said:

1.Venom
2.Iron Man (the Robert Downey Jr. version)
3.Ghost Rider (NOT the Nic Cage version)
4.Wolverine (though I rather more enjoyed him a Weapon X)
5.Collosus
6.Spawn
7.Kazuma the Shellbullet from S-Cry-Ed (kind of a superhero...has powers, fights for good...yeah...)
8.Batman
9.Hulk
10.Rorshach

In no particular order.

1. Deadpool
2 Spider-man
3. Captain America
4. Batman (Terry Mcginnis)
5. Daredevil
6. The Punisher
7. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (they started in a comic so it counts)
8. Gambit
9. John Constantine (Hellblazer)
10. Superman

These may not all be superheroes (nor are they all from comics) in the strictest sense, but I'm choosing to include anyone with some kind of power.

The Doctor (because he's incorruptible), Spider-Man (because he's a nerdy science geek), Batman (because you've got to have dark and edgy), Wolverine (because he's the ultimate badass), Iron Man (because you've got to live a snippy, snarky drunk superhero), Connor MacLeod (because he's an immortal, sword-swinging romantic), Wonder Woman (because she's as sexy as she is powerful), Superman (because of his purity), Son Goku (because he always does what's right and won't give up), and Squirrel Girl (because she's nuts).

#1) Spidey. Snark is like a main weapon.
#2) Wolvie.
#3) Batman.
#4) Deadpool. (His mind is almost like my writing.)
#5) Tank Girl. (Again, mental state.)
#6) Gambit.
#7) Rogue.
#8) Haruko Harahura.
#9) Hellboy.
#10) Electrocute. (mainly because she was adorable.)

These are not in order of likings.
Well, not completely... There are others, but these are my main.

I do have to add a sidenote: as much as Aquaman annoys me sometimes, the version on Batman Brave and the Bold is one I love. The idiotic arrogance he has. Love it.

Great thread Veroe I shall be reading with interest given that I adore the supremly Sensual and geeky males whom I have come to love so much here on Lit

3]Ravenloft
4]The Spectre
5]C.T.
6]F.D ( he will kill me)

The Beyonder
Dark Phoenix

Contemplating my favorite comic book characters quickly lead me to one conclusion. I usually like the villains much more than their protagonists.

Hero is such a subjective term anyway.

What do I geek over... Hmmm.

A mixed list so bear with me. I would feel terrible if I didn't start with the men then worked my way to other stuff. So, I'll take a page from Yeisha's book and start there.

1. FD :)heart: obviously), LI, Fr33k, CT, Veroe, SB, Fish, CG

2. Writing

3. Open Wheel Racing. (think Indy 500 if you don't know what I mean here)

4. Music. All sorts.

5. Books/Authors: Karen Moning (I love how this woman writes), George R.R. Martin, Lisa Shearin, Jennifer Estep, Seressia Glass, to name just a wee bit of my list.

6. Art

7. Cooking

8. World of Warcraft

9. MMA, UFC

10. Wolverine, Batman, Rogue, Gambit, Hellboy, Thor, Ghost Rider, Joker. (These are just a few that come to mind at the moment that I've enjoyed. )

11. Medieval stuff. Weapons, history, roleplay, Authurian legend (Thank you Saint for reminding me), Ren Faires.

I never much got into comic books, but still enjoy plenty of geekiness in my everyday life!

In no particular order:

Magic: the Gathering
Dungeons and Dragons
Batman
Ender's Game novels
Dragonlance novels
Star Wars
Star Trek
Anything/Everything mythological
Arthurian legends
Pretty much anything sci-fi/fantasy related!

Things that I get my geek on

1. Firefly (because it's Firefly)
2. True Blood (all about Eric, mostly because i read the books, and because Alexander Skarsguard makes him so fracking hot.)
3. Angel (the Joss Whedon series)
4. Thor
5. Wow
6. MW3
7. IronMan (Robert Downy Jr. version)
8 IT Crowd (cause it just makes me laugh)
9 Hulk (Edward Norton Version)
10 Writing.

If we're listing things we're geeky over, then in no particular order:

1. Science
2. Baseball
3. UFC
4. Reading
5. Music
6. Movies/TV
7. Debating (I love to debate the things you shouldn't.. politics, religion, morality)
8. Gaming (I'm not a hardcore gamer, but things like Fallout, Mass Effect, Gears of War..)
9. My dog. I love him.
10. Um... I'm out.

Thank you all for your responses.

Now let's get on my own list:

in descending order...
10. Superman (Now putting aside all the artsy fartsy junk on character development and powersets and strong rogues galleries. Let me put it to you like this-If I was in an elevator during an earthquake and the building catches on fire....I'd really hope superman shows up to save me. Not knocking any of the others on this list, they're great characters, and could probably get me out...just Superman I know can and will do it with ease. It's kinda his thing afterall. He's the only one who's niche is pretty much guardian angel to the world.)
9. Black Widow (didn't really like her so much until she became a regular on Captain America-but still really enjoyed her relationship and how it reflected her origin with Bucky)
8. The Hulk (the scene in Avengers when he confronts Loki comes to mind as a good example...when a baddie needs to be punched in the face I can usually always count on him to deliver a satisfying dose of comeuppance to him)
7. the Flash (Now I am admittedly a Marvel fan over a DC fan but the flash not batman was the gateway character that got me to start seriously reading DC)
6. Bucky as Captain America (When the original dies and a sidekick takes over wearing the costume is a make or break moment for a comic book, but I loved the thoughtful way the writer portrayed Bucky filling in for Steve as also a story of personal redemption for him.)
5. Nova (I've been a fan of his ever since I read Annihilation which matured and seasoned a teenage superhero on the cusp of greatness into a champion)
4. Wolverine (Not the most original I know but hey I love when he cuts right down to the heart of the matter-pun intended there)
3. Batman (It could be argued he's the most successful with great broad appeal comic book character in the world right now...and I did just see DKR which was awesome)
2. Spiderman (Lily mentioned his snark which I love)
1. Captain America (No duh right? You just have to look in my siggie to see he's my favorite)

ok, favorite comic book heroes...

1. Captain America
2. Batman
3. Wolverine
4. Iron Man
5. Spider Man
6. Superman
7. Dark Man
8. Hulk
9. Thor (movie version preferably)
10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

In no particular order

Kabuki
Hellboy
Rin (ok, I dunno if she counts as a superhero, but she should)
Kitty Pryde (I had SUCH the crush)
Superman. Yeah. I said it.
Death.
The Engineer
Black Canary
Donna Troy
Wally West
Storm

Yeah. Thats 11. I go up to 11.

the turtles are awesome when handled properly. Incidentally my rage at Michael Bay knows no bounds right now.

Ease that rage Rider. The project has been cancelled. Now if you want to look at bad Turtle renditions, there Part III and that Next Mutation show.

Also out since we're on the topic, favorite turtle?

Mine's Raph.

Mine's Raph.

Still, I know it's been canceled, but really, making them Aliens? The title says Mutant, not alien. Freaking Michael Bay. If you want a good live action turtles movie let Joss Whedon do it. He's not God or anything, but the language the Turtles use and the general feel of their world is something he's equipped to handle.

And Raph, always Raph. Same reason I prefer Wolverine to Cyclops I think, plus I always thought Sai's were badass.

favorite turtle Michealangelo, kinda reflects my own personality. Though I should say I have some Leonardo in me too.

Raph's too emo for me, sorry.
